Spider-Man: No Way Home hits theaters on Dec. 17, and the lead-up to the film has seen Tom Holland reflecting on his time as Peter Parker. Although fans have been wondering what the future holds for the Spider-Man actor, Holland recently looked back on his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Specifically, he recalled struggling with his confidence. Fortunately, WandaVision star Elizabeth Olsen helped him overcome that.

Tom Holland struggled with confidence

Fans wouldn’t know it from watching him on-screen, but Spider-Man actor Tom Holland struggled with his confidence growing up. During his recent Superhero of the Year feature for GQ, the Marvel star reflected on how he used to put on a brave face. Even still, he’d feel insecure beneath it.

“As a kid, a lot of my confidence was really fake,” Holland explained. “But, really, inside I was, ‘Oh, my God, I’m f***ing terrified.’”

That’s something most teenagers experience, and joining a massive franchise probably doesn’t alleviate the anxiety. On top of dealing with self-esteem issues, Holland told GQ he tends to avoid confrontation.

“One of my biggest faults is that I’m an impossible people pleaser,” Holland said. “I don’t like the idea of people not liking me. So I will do whatever I can do to make that not the case.”

Of course, that can make it difficult to stand up for yourself or set boundaries with other people. Fortunately, WandaVision star Elizabeth Olsen gave Holland some advice that made doing those things easier.

The ‘Spider-Man’ actor received ‘amazing’ advice from Elizabeth Olsen

The younger sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley, Olsen grew up with a family immersed in the film and television industries. She also tackled a few projects herself before joining the MCU. The WandaVision star imparted the wisdom she gained on Holland, and the Spider-Man actor remains grateful for her advice on setting boundaries to this day.

“I actually learned this from Elizabeth Olsen,” he told GQ. “She gave me an amazing piece of advice: ‘No’ is a full sentence. ‘No’ is enough.”

It’s short and to the point, but it’s a piece of guidance many could benefit from, whether they’re in Hollywood or not.

Could Tom Holland’s Spider-Man reunite with the ‘WandaVision’ actor in the MCU?

It’s sweet that Olsen helped mentor Holland when he first joined the MCU, but his story does serve as a reminder that the two have barely appeared in a scene together since Spidey made his entrance in Captain America: Civil War. It would be nice to see Peter and Wanda share some screen time — though it’s unclear if it could actually happen.

If the pair were to reunite, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness would prove the ideal moment for it. Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) will play a big part in Peter Parker’s story in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Wanda Maximoff has already been confirmed for his sequel movie. There’s no word on whether or not Holland could show up as well, but Marvel does like to keep big cameos under wraps.

If they don’t cross paths in the upcoming Doctor Strange movie, perhaps they’ll see each other in a future Avengers film. The future of the MCU looks promising, but it’d be a shame if some of the most popular heroes didn’t get some screen time together.
