The Marvel Cinematic Universe kicked off its fourth phase in high gear. One of the movies in the MCU’s Phase Four lineup is the highly anticipated Spider-Man: No Way Home. Marvel Studios recently dropped the movie’s hot trailer after an informal one leaked online, and although fans were excited, Doctor Strange’s behavior caught many by surprise. Fans now can’t stop wondering if that was really Doctor Strange in the new trailer.

When fans last caught up with the web-slinger, he had trusted the wrong man, Mysterio, and handed him his inheritance from Tony Stark. Mysterio then used the Stark Industries tech to unleash all sorts of evil into the world and terrorize Spider-Man while at it.

After battling Spidey, Mysterio, as a last resort, reveals to the whole world Spider-Man’s identity, leaving the friendly neighborhood superhero to his own devices. Spider-Man: No Way Home picks up after the world has finally learned about Peter Parker’s identity as the web-slinger.

Peter has difficulty adjusting to his new reality as everyone blames him for Mysterio’s death. Peter also lands on the police’s radar as he gets questioned about his possession and use of Stark technology, with the police labeling him a terrorist.

Tired of it all, Peter approaches Doctor Stephen Strange to return to the normalcy he once knew before. He enlists Strange’s help in turning back time. As the master of arts is busy conjuring up a time-reversal position, the spell goes wrong, leading to many unfortunate events, including unleashing villains from other universes.

This leaves Spider-Man with an even bigger mess than before as he has to fix things once more. Although the trailer is very clear about Doctor Strange’s role, it’s best to take it with a grain of salt as often Marvel Studios trailers come with their fair share of deception.

Additionally, given that the trailer was a last-minute release by Sony to salvage what was already out there, we might get to see something entirely different in the movie. Still, Doctor Strange’s role in the trailer has left fans asking many questions.

Is that really Doctor Strange in the trailer? He’s acting a bit strange

The trailer has left fans anticipating for the movie to drop, but Doctor Strange’s behavior has led many to think that he isn’t himself, according to Digital Spy. For starters, when he first appears, he is wearing a Parka, which raises some eyebrows.

Besides that, his conversation with Peter seems off, unlike the Strange fans have gotten accustomed to in the past MCU movies. Additionally, it looks like his relationship with Wong has gotten strained as they seem cold and distant. The No Way Home trailer showed the doctor promising Wong that he wouldn’t cast the spell, with Wong warning him of its implications. However, in the next shot, we see Strange casting the same spell his colleague warned him about.

Additionally, Doctor Strange’s willingness to help Peter mess with the timeline is very questionable, considering he believes in not interfering with the universe and not casting spells unnecessarily. All these arguments laid forward lead many fans to believe that the Strange in the trailer isn’t the same protector of reality but an impostor. However, others seem to think that Strange is just being himself.

Is there more than meets the eye with Doctor Strange?
