Brie Larson is already Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But now the Oscar-winning star has her eyes on another fan-favorite franchise. For a long while, Larson has been quietly campaigning to join Star Wars.

Rumors have run rampant for a while about how Larson could appear in the “galaxy far, far away.” But according to a new rumor, the actor’s entrance into Star Wars could also involve two of the saga’s most high-profile directors and adapt one of fans’ favorite stories.

Brie Larson has declared she wants to star in the ‘Star Wars’ saga

Larson might be a divisive figure in some corners of the internet. But she led Captain Marvel to a $1.1 billion worldwide gross. As such, the actor can probably have her choice of popular movie series she’s interested in. And Star Wars is chief among them.

The actor has repeatedly admitted how much she wants to join the franchise. Her long-standing friendship with Star Wars alum Samuel L. Jackson likely only strengthened that hope. And in a recent YouTube video, Larson confessed she has auditioned for a Star Wars movie before.

While the actor hasn’t revealed which role she was up for, we have to imagine her audition predates the release of Captain Marvel. Her star has never brighter than it is now. So if Lucasfilm is interested in bringing Larson in, here’s their chance to do so.

Both Rian Johnson and Taika Waititi are reportedly involved

Although it’s far from an official confirmation, YouTuber Overlord DVD reports Lucasfilm is indeed planning Larson’s entrance into the Star Wars universe. And according to the claim, the actor will be headlining a film based on the Knights of the Old Republic video game series.

Lucasfilm has expressed its eagerness to step away from the Skywalkers. And Knights of the Old Republic is set thousands of years earlier. So it could provide the Star Wars saga with the fresh start it needs after The Rise of Skywalker’s tepid response. Reportedly, Lucasfilm is even going all out.

In addition to Larson, rumor has it Lucasfilm will two directors from Star Wars’ past to produce the new movie. For years, The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson has been attached to his own trilogy. And Taika Waititi directed The Mandalorian Season 1 finale and is set to direct his own big-screen release.

‘The Knights of the Old Republic’ is destined to get a film adaptation

This report actually combines a variety of different internet rumors regarding the future of Star Wars. As a result, it’s extra important not to blindly take this report at face value. As of now, Larson has never been confirmed for a Star Wars project. And it’s been ages since we’ve gotten a concrete update on Johnson’s involvement in the franchise.

In fact, the only thing we know for sure is that Waititi’s movie is a go. That doesn’t mean it’s Knight of the Old Republic, however. After all, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige is also reportedly producing a Star Wars movie too. At this point, there’s no telling how many different projects are in the works. Lucasfilm is likely just trying to see which one comes together first.

That being said, Knights of the Old Republic has been a story fans have long wanted to see taken to the big screen. And as we mentioned, its setting allows Star Wars to untether itself from Anakin Skywalker and his legacy. Even if it doesn’t happen like this report claims it will, it’s a safe bet that Knights of the Old Republic could get the big-screen treatment very soon.
