Timothée Chalamet is one of Hollywood’s most popular up-and-coming young actors. A former child star, Chalamet has already racked up a slew of awards and nominations, including two Golden Globe Awards, an Academy Award nomination, and four Screen Actors Guild Awards — in spite of the fact that he is only 25 years old. While Chalamet has appeared in many projects over the past few years and even made a recent foray into science fiction, there’s one major franchise that he has not yet acted in. Still, for many fans, Timothée Chalamet would be a perfect addition to the Star Wars universe, and would perfectly embody the tortured, tragic character of Anakin Skywalker.

Timothée Chalamet was born in New York City in 1995. Raised to speak both English and French fluently, Chalamet was encouraged to pursue a career in the arts by his mother. Chalamet enjoyed a diverse academic experience as a child, and his talent for performance made an impression on his teachers and peers. Throughout high school, Chalamet acted in a variety of school productions, uncovering his deep love for acting.

After high school, Chalamet originally planned to get a degree in cultural anthropology — however, one year into his studies, he transferred to New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study to pursue his acting career. Around this time, he continued to develop his talents by acting in commercials and short films.

Fan casting has given the nod to Timothée Chalamet as Anakin Skywalker

The Star Wars prequel trilogy featured Hayden Christensen as the young Anakin Skywalker, who struggled with the influence of the dark side before ultimately becoming the villainous Darth Vader. While the films made big money at the box office, Christensen’s acting was panned by many critics and fans, with some claiming that his portrayal of Anakin was too wooden to really do the character justice.

According to Screen Rant, some Star Wars fans feel as though Timothée Chalamet is the perfect choice to play Anakin Skywalker, since he’s proven to be an expert at playing tragic roles. Additionally, given Chalamet’s young age, it seems as though he would be able to capture the youthful spirit and exuberance that characterizes Anakin Skywalker’s personality traits.

With no immediate plans to resurrect the Star Wars prequel trilogy, the casting of Timothée Chalamet as Anakin Skywalker is, at this point, a bit of fancy. But considering that Chalamet’s star continues to rise, showrunners at Lucasfilm would do well to take notice.
