‘Stargirl’ Season 2 Preview: Will Courtney Turn Evil in Episode 13?
Stargirl Season 2 has been full of plot twists and scary surprises as Eclipso took over Blue Valley from the Justice Society of America. The villain has threatened the JSA at every turn, but the young superheroes are more motivated than ever to stop him. Will they be strong enough to defeat Eclipso in Stargirl Season 2 Episode 13? Or will Courtney become the villain’s new host?
What happened in ‘Stargirl’ Season 2 Episode 12?
In Stargirl Season 2 Episode 12, the penultimate hour before the finale, Courtney returned from the Shadowlands. She and Cindy agreed to a truce to accomplish their mutual goal of defeating Eclipso. But, of course, not everyone was onboard with Cindy teaming up with the JSA.
Courtney tried to convince Yolanda to return to the team by telling her that Ted Grant had killed Brude Gordon. However, that plan backfired, and Yolanda was even more determined to never put on her Wildcat costume again. But when Cindy paid a visit to Yolanda to let her know that she was working with Courtney, Yolanda rejoined the team to protect them from Cindy.
Pat and Mike also went to work to strengthen the JSA. Pat threatened Rick’s uncle to convince him to drop the charges against his nephew, and Rick was released from jail. Mike found Thunderbolt, whose owner is now Mike’s friend Jakeem. He convinced Jakeem to help the JSA fight Eclipso.
At the end of the hour, Beth and Dr. McNider tried to use the ISA mainframe to find Eclipso, but he found them first. Beth called for backup, but that was what the villain wanted her to do. Eclipso then told the two superheroes that he planned to feed on Courtney’s darkness. Jennie also had a vision of Courtney, possessed by Eclipso, walking over the dead bodies of JSA members, which spells trouble for Stargirl Season 2 Episode 13.
What the synopsis and the trailer tell us about ‘Stargirl’ Season 2 Episode 13
The synopsis for Stargirl Season 2 Episode 13, “Summer School: Chapter Thirteen,” reads, “As Eclipso (Nick Tarabay) unleashes the final part of his master plan, Courtney (Brec Bassinger), Pat (Luke Wilson), and the JSA band together to take him down once and for all. Yvette Monreal, Cameron Gellman, Anjelika Washington, Amy Smart, Trae Romano, and Hunter Sansone also star. Greg Beeman directed the episode written by Geoff Johns.”
In the trailer for Stargirl Season 2 Episode 13, Eclipso, in his child form, promises, “Tonight, I will become a god.” The villain is also seen hurting Courtney. And at the end of the video, Eclipso says, “Are you afraid? You should be very afraid,” as Jennie’s vision of Courtney becoming Eclipso’s host becomes true.
Will Eclipso accomplish his mission of possessing Courtney?
By watching the trailer for Stargirl Season 2 Episode 13, we can probably conclude that Courtney becomes Eclipso’s host. The question is, however, how long will that last? Stargirl can be a dark show, and the writers are not afraid to kill off its characters. But we can’t imagine that season 2 will end with Courtney, possessed by Eclipso, killing all of the people she loves.
There’s no doubt that Rick will reconstruct the Hourglass Amulet. With him back in the JSA, alongside Yolanda, Beth, Pat, Dr. McNider, Cindy, Jennie, and Jakeem Thunder, they should be able to save Courtney from Eclipso’s darkness. And there’s also the matter of whoever Cindy called for help at the end of episode 12.
Plus, we still haven’t seen Starman arrive in present-day Blue Valley, which was teased earlier in the season. And since, according to Deadline, Joel McHale will be a series regular for season 3, Starman could show up to save the day in the finale.
