The promo trailers for Station 19 Season 5 Episode 5 and Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Episode 5 suggest that Ben dies in the next crossover event. In the previews, a massive explosion destroys a neighborhood. So members from Station 19 and Station 23 must work together to save everyone.

However, it seems at least one firefighter will get hurt — and possibly die. The Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 teasers show a firefighter getting knocked unconscious, and an aid car is called into action. Then back at Grey Sloan Memorial, Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) says she’s been trying to call Ben, but her husband hasn’t picked up his phone.

Meanwhile, the promos confirm “not everyone will survive” the new Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy crossover episode. The latest teaser also shows a silent ambulance coming toward Grey Sloan, and Bailey says there’s a “dead person” inside.

While many Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 fans are hoping Ben doesn’t die and leave Bailey behind, George teased leaving Shondaland when the previews came out. On Nov. 8, the actor shared the latest promo on Instagram and Twitter. Then he revealed everyone got emotional while filming the crossover, “especially” him.

“On a personal level… This #greysanatomy #station19 #crossover is the most powerful one yet,” George wrote. “Real talk…. We got teary Even after cameras stopped rolling Especially me #muchlove to all my @greysabc & @station19 family Genuinely love you all.”

Some Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy viewers took George’s caption as a subtle farewell to Shondaland. Cast members Jay Hayden and Boris Kodjoe, who play Travis Montgomery and Robert Sullivan, also wrote up heartfelt messages about George, as if to say goodbye.

“It’s been such an honor working with @jasonwinstongeorge A pro’s pro. Great actor. Even better man,” Hayden wrote on Instagram. “Please don’t miss this Thursday’s @station19 @greysabc crossover event. It’s truly a special one to us. Hopefully you will feel the same way.”

For now, Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 fans will have to wait and see whether Ben will be dead at the end of the crossover. But while the cast’s comments are concerning, it’s just as likely someone like Grey Damon (Jack Gibson), Dean Miller (Okieriete Onaodowan), or Vic Hughes (Barrett Doss) dies at this point in the game.

That said, ABC already dropped a few spoilers about who dies, who survives, and who doesn’t leave their respective shows. The synopsis for Station 19 Season 5 Episode 6, “Little Girl Blue,” indicates that the Station 19 and Station 23 crews will mourn the loved ones they lost after the explosion during the Thanksgiving holiday. But even if a beloved firefighter dies, they will “celebrate the families they have become” in the Nov. 18 episode.

The synopsis for Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Episode 6, “Every Day Is a Holiday (With You),” also reveals members from the Grey Sloan team who will survive the crossover. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), Nick Marsh (Scott Speedman), Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone), Atticus “Link” Lincoln (Chris Carmack), Richard, and Bailey are all named. New photos from the episode also confirm Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd), Cormac Hayes (Richard Flood), Teddy Altman (Kim Raver), Megan Hunt (Abigail Spencer), Levi Schmitt (Jake Borelli), Nico Kim (Alex Landi), and Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington) are all alive and well.

Meanwhile, the pictures show Bailey hanging out with Richard, Schmitt, Nico, and Jo at the hospital. The character is also smiling. And ultimately, it doesn’t appear like Bailey just experienced Ben’s death. However, looks can be deceiving.

Station 19 Season 5 and Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 air Thursdays on ABC.
