The Grey’s Anatomy firefighter spinoff Station 19 is wrapping up its season 4 episodes in a few short weeks. However, among all the heartwrenching current events the show tackled this season, a bright light is coming. An upcoming episode features a heavy Ben Warren (Jason George) and Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) storyline that fans won’t want to miss.

‘Station 19’ Season 4 tackled COVID-19 and the tragic killing of George Floyd

Grey’s Anatomy Season 17 and Station 19 Season 4 both tackled the COVID-19 pandemic head-on. Viewers were thrust into the midst of the firefighters worrying about masks and the never-ending virus. During Station 19 Season 4 Episode 10, the firefighters set up a free COVID-19 testing site.

However, the drama did not tackle the death of George Floyd at the hands of a police officer until April 15, “Here It Comes Again.” At the end of Station 19 Season 4 Episode 11, the firefighters sat glued to the TV.

“The man can be seen calling for help, saying he ‘can’t breath,'” the local news broadcast explained. “The officer continued to press his knee on him for 8 minutes 46 seconds.”

The music turned sullen, and the firefighters became despondent. Some held the mouths open in shock at what they were watching.

“They took more time ending that man’s life than we did saving one,” Dean Miller (Okieriete Onaodowan) said as the news ended.

‘Station 19’ Season 4 Episode 12 promo

In the April 22 Station 19 Season 4 Episode 12 promo, Maya Bishop (Danielle Savre) brings in a grief counselor to help the firefighters cope.

“There’s been a death, and you are all grieving, so I asked her to come,” Maya tells her station.

Grief counselor Dr. Diane Lewis (Tracie Thoms) is not a new face to Station 19. She appeared in 2 previous episodes in 2020. In the short clip, fans see the characters attempting to deal with their feelings. Even Lewis has tears streaming down her face. It looks like another emotional episode of Station 19.

The ‘Station 19’ cast brings back Chandra Wilson

Although Station 19 Season 4 Episode 12 looks gut-wrenching, the following episode on May 6 has a bright spot. In ABC’s press photos, fans see Ben and Miranda cuddling in bed. Plus, their son Tuck (Noah Alexander Gerry) makes an appearance in the Warren-Bailey household. Tensions still run high, but at least viewers get to see one of their favorite couples.
