With James Gunn at the helm of the latest DC Extended Universe film, The Suicide Squad was bound to be hilarious and fun. Now, thanks to Warner Bros. Entertainment posting the film’s bloopers video to their YouTube page, fans can see that the cast had as much fun making the film as we did watching it. And one cast member, in particular, poked some fun at his character’s rather small part in the DCEU film in The Suicide Squad gag reel.

Javelin’s fate in ‘The Suicide Squad’

If it were up to Flula Borg, the actor who plays Javelin in The Suicide Squad, the DCEU film would have been called “Javelin (and The Suicide Squad, also).” Unfortunately for Javelin, his time in the film was short-lived. He was one of the many characters who perished during the opening sequence on the beach of Corto Maltese.

Javelin, aka Gunter Braun, was a former Olympic athlete who, you guessed it, used javelins as his main weapon. He’s a part of the first Suicide Squad team that almost entirely gets wiped out when they invade Corto Maltese. Unbeknownst to them, they were just a distraction so the second team could arrive undetected. The only survivors from the first scene are Harley Quinn and Rick Flag, who Peacemaker later kills.

In The Suicide Squad gag reel from Warner Bros. Entertainment, Borg, in character as Javelin, hilariously states that the movie is all about him. The bloopers end with Javelin leading his Suicide Squad team as they walk in slow motion in front of an American flag.

‘The Suicide Squad’ gag reel is hilarious

In the rest of the bloopers video for The Suicide Squad, fans can see other funny behind-the-scenes moments where the actors messed up.

The clip starts with Idris Elba, who plays Bloodsport, forcefully fake laughing. Later on in the video, Elba trips over some wreckage while filming the movie’s final battle. Another cringe-worthy moment from the gag reel occurs when Daniele Melchior, who plays Ratcatcher 2, accidentally slams a car door into the camera.

And since the film relies heavily on CGI and motion capture, the blooper video shows Weasel actor Sean Gunn and King Shark’s stand-in Steve Agee awkwardly maneuver in their VFX suits.

Will there be a sequel to ‘The Suicide Squad’?

As of this moment, Warner Bros. has not announced a sequel for The Suicide Squad. But James Gunn did touch on the subject in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. He said, “I’ve had ideas, actually. If I did a sequel, it’s not like, ‘Hey, let’s assemble another team and let’s do this!’ It would be very different.” So, never say never when it comes to a sequel to the successful DCEU film.

For now, fans will have Peacemaker to look forward to. Peacemaker is an upcoming television series on HBO Max that will serve as a continuation of John Cena’s role in the film. The show is set to premiere in Jan. 2022.

The Suicide Squad will be available on 4K, Blu-Ray, and DVD on Oct. 28.
