Filming for Summer House Season 6 is well underway, but Hannah Berner won’t be joining the cast this year. Instead, she’s focusing on her comedy tour but said it still feels weird not to be in the Hamptons with the crew. “I feel like it’s a weird FOMO,” she recently told ET. “It’s, like, you kind of want to be invited, but you don’t really want to go, because I’m doing my comedy, which is what makes me really, really happy. [Summer House] is not necessarily the best place for me and a guy that I really, really am in love with to be like, ‘Let’s throw him in this friend group who doesn’t always want the best for me.'”

Hannah Berner said she left ‘Summer House’ once the show became too toxic

Berner told ET she left Summer House because she didn’t find the show to be a safe space for her any longer. “Long story short, it became kind of not a safe space for me to do my comedy and have fun while also being entertaining,” she said. “I want to make people laugh. I want to make people happy. I don’t want to be in a place of a cyberbullying situation.”

Adding, that the show was fun … at first. But she needed to go to therapy after her brutal last season. “I definitely had to go into therapy after,” she remarked. “People can say stuff like, ‘Oh, you’re going to go on a reality TV show. Are you sure?’ And the first two seasons, I was like, ‘It was incredible!’ And then my last season, I was like, ‘I need therapy.’ And I’m going to be OK, and it’s time to figure out, kind of, my next journey.”

Is Hannah Berner speaking to any of the ‘Summer House’ cast?

She only speaks to Paige DeSorbo and Ciara Miller. But said she hasn’t been in touch with any other cast members since they wrapped the reunion. “I’ve made an effort, but no,” she said about reaching out to the rest of the cast. “Since I got engaged, things were really weird.”

“When the season aired, it was horrible,” she said. “I really felt like they were my family. So it’s been a difficult kind of end to my reality TV world. … It’s crazy how the outside world’s opinions can affect people and who jumps on the bandwagon and who doesn’t.”

She said some of her cast members also turned against her on social media. “I realize that some things, reality TV and the comedy world, aren’t always good meshed together,” she shared. “It was a scary time for me. It got to the point where I found out that cast members were becoming friends with hateful Twitter accounts and bloggers and Reddit, and it was just a really hard time knowing that people were purposely having hate campaigns against you.”

Hannah Berner moved her wedding to next spring

Instead of dealing with the show, Berner is focusing on her comedy tour and her wedding, which she postponed until spring 2022. “We didn’t decide we needed to spend more time with each other,” Berner’s fiancé Des Bishop told ET. “After the venue fell through, we were like, ‘Well, look on the bright side, we get to spend more time with each other,’ just to clarify, because Hannah’s not great sometimes at her messaging. The venue fell through — and this is not me covering, this is the truth.”
