Fans are having to wait around a lot for exciting projects these days. As the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic continue to ripple out across Hollywood, plenty of projects have been delayed — and some have been canceled altogether. Luckily for those who have been waiting for Superman and Lois, the series got some episodes aired before COVID-19 shut down production. Now fans will have to wait until mid-May to see more, and that gives them time to get to know the actors a bit better. The series stars Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent/Superman — what is his net worth?

‘Superman and Lois’ combines action and family drama

Superman is one of the most recognizable and iconic protagonists of the ever-growing, action-packed genre. There have been many, many iterations of Superman to grace both the small and large screens, and some have been more successful than others. Choosing familiar source material for a new project has its pros and cons. On the one hand, you already have fans who are invested and ready to watch.

On the other hand, those fans come in with preconceived notions and high expectations. For Superman and Lois, meeting the demands between familiarity and novelty comes in by flipping the script a bit. Superman and Lois Lane have returned to Smallville to raise a family, and the series looks not only at the extraordinary elements of their lives but also the more everyday challenges of being working parents.

Tyler Hoechlin started acting as a child

Tyler Hoechlin got his start in acting as a child. Born in 1987, Hoechlin stepped into the career with a role in the 1999 film Family Tree, a drama about a young boy who wants to protect an old oak tree from being torn down in the name of real estate development. A few years later, Hoechlin would play in another family-centered film called Train Quest, but a role for more mature audiences was just around the corner. His part in the 2002 film Road to Perdition — which starred Tom Hanks — helped him break into more noteworthy performances.

He followed up that role with a recurring and long-running part on 7th Heaven. By the time that role wrapped up, Hoechlin was an adult ready to tackle more films. In between guest appearances on multiple TV shows, Hoechlin performed in Solstice (2008), Hall Pass (2011), and Undrafted (2016). The part that really started to get him notice was playing Derek Hale on the series Teen Wolf

Obviously, Hoechlin’s acting career has dipped in and out of different genres, but action and fantasy were clear favorites. That made him a great candidate when it came time to cast Superman for DC’s new television series. He first stepped into the role for Supergirl, a series that ran from 2016 to 2019. He stepped into the role for small appearances on The Flash and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, but Superman and Lois puts him front-and-center in a major way.

This boost to his visibility is likely to be a buoy to his overall career and net worth as well. Currently, Hoechlin has an estimated net worth of around $4 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. If Superman and Lois really takes off with fans, that number is likely to grow considerably.
