Sweet Magnolias Season 1 dropped back in May 2020. Netflix quickly renewed the show about a trio of friends in a small Southern town. But the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic delayed production on the new episodes.

Now, the wait for next season is almost over. Sweet Magnolias Season 2 will be available to stream beginning Feb. 4 at 12 a.m. PT (3 a.m. ET).

Sweet Magnolias Season 2 will have 10 episodes, all roughly 50 minutes long. That’s the same number of episodes that were in season 1.

Sherryl Woods, who wrote the books on which Sweet Magnolias is based, teased the new season in a Jan. 28 tweet. (Fun fact: Woods also wrote the books that inspired Hallmark Channel’s Chesapeake Shores.)

“Just one week till #SweetMagnoliasSeason2,” she wrote. “Are you ready for lots of surprises, twists and turns accompanied by a few margaritas?”

JoAnna Garcia Swisher and the rest of the season 1 cast return for season 2

All of fans’ favorite faces will be back for Sweet Magnolias Season 2. That includes the three actors who play the Sweet Magnolias: JoAnna Garcia Swisher as divorced mom of three Maddie Townsend, Brooke Elliott as chef Dana Sue Sullivan, and Heather Headley as lawyer Helen Decatur.

Carson Rowland returns as Maddie’s son Tyler and Logan Allen as his younger brother Kyle. Anneliese Judge is also back as Dana Sue’s daughter Annie. Chris Klein plays Maddie’s ex-husband Bill and Jamie Lynn Spears portrays Noreen Fitzgibbons, his pregnant ex-girlfriend.

Other Sweet Magnolias Season 2 cast members include Chris Medlin as Isaac Downey, Brandon Quinn as Ronnie Sullivan, and Dion Johnstone as Erik Whitley.

Sweet Magnolias Season 1 left fans with a ton of questions. (Namely, who was in the car with Kyle?) Fortunately, it sounds like the new episodes deliver some answers, as well as more heartwarming – and juicy – moments for the ladies of Serenity.

“It’s like pedal to the metal,” Swisher told Showbiz Cheat Sheet in a 2021 interview. “No joke, season 2, yes, there are some incredible lighthearted, beautiful moments and love stories and great blessings, but it’s a lot. It’s juicy.”

Here’s the official season 2 synopsis from Netflix:

As Season 2 opens, Maddie, Helen, and Dana Sue learn who is in the car. But that’s just the first of many surprises that come out of Prom Night — surprises that reshape relationships all over town. Friendships flounder. Old loves end and new loves begin. Long-hidden secrets disrupt jobs, change lives, and shift the balance of power in Serenity. Everyone is affected. But in laughter and in loss, the Sweet Magnolias continue to fight for what is right for themselves and the people they love — even when those efforts come with a high price tag. Will they find there are some problems not even Margarita Night can solve? Come pour it out and find out.
