Tami Roman quits ‘Basketball Wives’

Roman joined the Basketball Wives Miami cast in season 2. For years, Roman was viewed as a villain and bully on the show, often coming to blows with her co-stars. She made a vow to change her behavior and the way she was perceived after season 6.

She began dating her now-husband, Reggie Youngblood, and wanted to showcase her new family life and her expanding her career outside of reality television with acting. Unfortunately, the drama between she and Evelyn Lozada resurfaced.

The two had a nasty exchange after Roman accused Lozada of lying about a domestic violence incident. It was later revealed that Roman was aware of a rumor that Lozada had an affair with Shaunie O’Neal’s ex-husband. Things became messy as O’Neal is a mutual friend of both Lozada and Roman.

Roman grew tired of the drama and began filming less with her co-stars. She also refused to attend events or participate in the cast trip they take every season. She announced her departure mid-season with a pre-recorded farewell in a confessional and did not attend the season 8 reunion taping, citing an allergic reaction.

Tami Roman on who she keeps in contact with from ‘Basketball Wives’ cast; admits she doesn’t speak to Shaunie O’Neal

While speaking with fans on her Instagram live, Roman opened up about who she keeps in contact with from her former show.

“Do I still talk to Malaysia [Pargo]? Yes, I talk to Malaysia via Instagram,” she said. “I feel like I’m talking to you when I like your pictures. It’s like, I see a picture I like or I leave a comment on your picture. That’s me talking to you.”

As far as where her relationship with O’Neal stands, Roman says a relationship is nonexistent.

“Somebody said how is me and Shaunie. I haven’t talked to Shaunie since I left the show,” she said. “So that’s how me and Shaunie are.”

Why Did Tami Roman Skip the ‘Basketball Wives’ Reunion?

“I found out over the past three seasons that the lack of friendship was shown rather than the sisterhood as it pertained to me, which was unfortunate because I care for Shaunie,” Roman said during an interview with Keyshia Cole on her FOX Soul talk show.

In a separate interview with Dr. Heavenly Kimes on Kimes’ YouTube channel, Roman said of O’Neal:

“I thought that Shaunie and I were real friends. I think that I put more weight and more value on the friendship than she actually was doing,” she revealed. “From my standpoint, I really loved and respected Shaunie a great deal. And so the last two seasons made me feel like it wasn’t any reciprocity. You gotta acknowledge that and honor it. If people don’t f**k with you like that they just don’t f**k with you. No harm, no foul. But I just realized that it wasn’t that deep for her.”

Roman is currently starring in a number of television and film projects. She also has a popular digital series and is looking to host her own talk show.
