Taylor Swift fans have had tons of reasons to celebrate lately. The “right where you left me” singer recently won her third Grammy for Album of the Year for her first surprise album, folklore. Furthermore, Swift is gearing up to re-release her sophomore album Fearless (Taylor’s Version) on April 9, 2021. Now, fans are convinced that she and her long-time best friend, Selena Gomez are teasing that they have finally collaborated. But why do Swifties and Selenators believe that Gomez is featured on the upcoming album?

On March 24, 2021, Swift took to her social media pages to give fans an announcement. She shared that she would be releasing the first song “from the vault” on March 26, 2021. The “willow” songwriter has already let fans know that Fearless (Taylor’s Version) will include 6 never before released songs and the first features Maren Morris.

Taylor Swift announced one of the vault songs from ‘Fearless (Taylor’s Version)’

“HI,” Swift wrote to her fans. “I wanted to let you know that the first “From the Vault” song I’m releasing from Fearless (Taylor’s Version) comes out tomorrow at midnight eastern. It’s called You All Over Me (From The Vault). One thing I’ve been loving about these From The Vault songs is that they’ve never been heard, so I can experiment, play, and even include some of my favorite artists. I’m really excited to have @marenmorris singing background vocals on this song!! ☔️ Produced by Aaron Dessner and co-written by Scooter Carusoe – can’t wait for you to hear it 💛”

Naturally, fans are excited to hear the upcoming song and some believed that this was further proof that Swift is hinting at a collaboration with Gomez. But how did this rumor start? On March 22, 2021, Gomez took to her Instagram page to post a picture of herself and Swift. “kinda missin this one,” she captioned the post. Swift quickly wrote back “I love u like a love song bay beh, 🥰” which is a reference to one of Gomez’s songs.

Almost immediately, Swift’s fans began dissecting the post. Selenators first pointed out that Gomez doesn’t personally use social media, but rather has her team run her account for her. Therefore, they believed that the post was business-related and teasing a possible collab. Fans also noted that Gomez’s caption had 18 letters and was posted exactly 18 days prior to the release of Fearless (Taylor’s Version).

Others noted that Swift was spotted wearing Gomez’s makeup brand, Rare Beauty, to ACM awards back in 2020. Coincidentally, the red lip the evermore artist was wearing is called “fearless”. Eagle-eyed Swifties also pointed out that the photos that Gomez posted feature a guitar in the background and the “Lose You to Love Me” singer recently revealed to fans that she spent part of lockdown learning how to play guitar.

Long-time best friends, Swift and Gomez have teased a collaboration for years

There are plenty of other clues that Swifties are continuing to discover which seem to hint at a Gomez and Swift collaboration. While these easter eggs may not seem like enough evidence for some, Gomez once teased the name of Swift’s song “ME!” years before it released with an Instagram caption. Furthermore, Gomez was one of the first people to hear the original version of Fearless in its entirety before it released to the public. Thus, it would be a sweet callback to a special moment of the pair’s friendship if Gomez is on the reimagined album.

If that wasn’t enough proof, Gomez openly revealed that she’s always wanted to collab with Swift. Back in August 2020, the actor was on Animal Talking With Gary Whitta, and she teased a collab. “I’ve always dreamed of doing a song with Taylor,” Gomez declared. “We both wanted to do that…. We’ve talked about it, for sure.” When the host asked if a collab with Swift would come sooner rather than later Gomez replied with a coy “You never know…”

The evidence certainly looks good for Swifties and Selenators. But we reckon fans will have to wait until April 9, 2021, to know if Gomez is actually featured on Fearless (Taylor’s Version).
