Fans have been anxiously awaiting for Swift to re-release Fearless for months now. Swift has been outspoken about her battle to own the masters to her first six albums and she has promised to re-record them. While fans were expecting the a new version of Fearless, they weren’t expecting Swift’s announcement that the new album will feature six additional songs that have never been released.

Taylor Swift revealed ‘Fearless (Taylor’s Version)’ will feature six new songs

“I’ve spoken a lot about why I’m remaking my first six albums, but the way I’ve chosen to do this will hopefully illuminate where I’m coming from,” Swift shared on her social media pages ahead of the release of “Love Story (Taylor’s Version)” “Artists should own their own work for so many reasons, but the most screamingly obvious one is that the artist is the only one who really knows that body of work. For example, only I know which songs I wrote that almost made the Fearless album. Songs I absolutely adored but were held back for different reasons (don’t want too many breakup songs, don’t want too many down tempo songs, can’t fit that many songs on a physical CD).”

Swift continued on to share why she was gifting fans with new songs for Fearless (Taylor’s Version) “Those reasons seem unnecessary now,”the “Soon You’ll Get Better” singer shared. “I’ve decided I want you to have the whole story, see the entire vivid picture, and let you into the entire dreamscape that is my Fearless album. That’s why I’ve chosen to include 6 never before released songs on my version of this album, written when I was between the ages of 16 and 18. These were the ones it killed me to leave behind.”

Fans believe they have found part of the tracklist for the new album

After Swift’s announcement, fans immediately began speculating about what the new songs could be. In fact, some Swifties on Twitter managed to find a photo of what seems to be an old tracklist for Fearless. The photo features seven songs written in lipstick on a mirror in Swift’s childhood room which is documented on Taylor’s Board.

The list reads as follows: 1. Permanent (which Swifties believe refer to the song “Permanent Marker”) 2. Tell Me Why 3. I’d Lie 4. Fearless 5. Dark Blue (which Swift fans believe represents “Dark Blue Tennessee”) 6. Spark and 7. The One Thing. Of course, “Fearless” and “Tell Me Why” actually did nab a spot on Swift’s award-winning sophomore album, so it’s not out of the question that some of these other songs may be the ones Swift plans to include on her upcoming re-recording.

Swifties will have to wait until April 9, 2021 to see if their predictions are true

Of course, fans can’t be sure that the aforementioned songs written in lipstick are the ones that Swift plans to include on her new album. However, it’s clear that the Queen of Easter Eggs knows how to leave fans in suspenseful anticipation.
