Only Taylor Swift knows for sure, but that hasn’t stopped fans from trying to guess what the singer-songwriter has planned. Swift fueled album rumors even more when she released “This Love (Taylor’s Version)” on May 5. The song “This Love” was originally released on Swift’s 2014 album 1989.

Taylor Swift released ‘This Love (Taylor’s Version)’

As a way to reclaim her music masters, Swift has been re-recording her first six albums. So far, the singer has released Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version), leaving her albums Taylor Swift, Speak Now, 1989, and Reputation to be re-released at some point in the future.

On May 4, Swift’s song “This Love (Taylor’s Version)” was included in the trailer for the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series The Summer I Turned Pretty.

On Instagram, Swift shared the trailer and wrote, “Thank you @jennyhan for debuting my version of This Love in the trailer for @thesummeriturnedpretty!! I’ve always been so proud of this song and I’m very about this turn of events – This Love (Taylor’s Version) comes out tonight at m i d n i g h t!”

“This Love (Taylor’s Version)” was released as a digital single on May 5 at midnight EDT. On her official YouTube channel, Swift shared a lyric video for the song featuring beach imagery.

The singer then published an Instagram post about “This Love (Taylor’s Version),” writing, “This Love (My version!) is out & I’m currently reliving the 1989 tour in my head and spiraling, it’s fine.”

Taylor Swift’s new release has fans speculating about her next re-recorded album

Since Swift released Red (Taylor’s Version) in November 2021, fans of the singer have been trying to guess which re-recorded album will drop next.

Up until this point, it has seemed like there are an equal number of hints for 1989 (Taylor’s Version) or Speak Now (Taylor’s Version). To make things more confusing, Swift’s official store recently released merchandise for both albums.

Since announcing “This Love (Taylor’s Version),” fans have been busy trying to decode the singer’s social media posts, new merchandise, and song choice.

“Saw this on Twitter, but why the 8 blank spaces between the letters on midnight,” one fan wrote on Reddit. “8 days from today is Friday the 13th! 1989 TV?????”

“Wait! Speak Now and 1989 merch dropped?! Wtf is happening,” wrote a Reddit user.

Another Reddit user wrote, “What are the three smiley faces??? I feel like this love is a misdirect and speak now is actually coming out.”

What fans think of ‘This Love (Taylor’s Version)’

Given Swift’s knack for Easter eggs and clues, it’s quite likely she could keep Swifties guessing for a while. Until Swift reveals what she has in store, fans are enjoying the newly-released “This Love (Taylor’s Version).”

“This Love” was always an underrated favorite on the original version of 1989, and based on early social media reactions, it seems fans are even more pleased with the new version.

“I can’t get over how beautiful her voice sounds on the updated version. It just sounds so dreamy,” wrote a fan on Reddit.

“OMG GUYS I’M CRYING THIS IS SOOOOOOO GOOD,” wrote a Reddit user.
