Sheā€™s still ā€œBejeweled.ā€ This track became one of the most popular off Midnights, earning over 110 million Spotify plays since its debut. Even the ā€œBejeweledā€ music video jumped to the top trending position, currently holding over 30 million views.

ā€œBest believe Iā€™m still bejeweled / When I walk in the room / I can still make the whole place shimmer,ā€ the chorus begins. ā€œAnd when I meet the band / They ask, ā€˜Do you have a man?ā€™ I can still say, ā€˜I donā€™t remember.ā€™ā€

Whatā€™s the meaning behind the ā€˜sapphireā€™ shoutout in Taylor Swiftā€™s ā€˜Bejeweledā€™?

Nothing Swift does is accidental ā€” and the artist specifically mentioned sapphires in ā€œBejeweled.ā€Ā

ā€œSapphire tears on my face,ā€ Swift sings in the bridge. ā€œSadness became my whole sky / But some guy said my auraā€™s moonstone / Just ā€™cause he was high.ā€

Could it be because sapphires are the same color as Midnights? Or maybe theyā€™re blue, as a reference to the ā€œRedā€ lyrics, ā€œlosing him was blue like Iā€™d never known.ā€ Some fans took to social media, sharing their sapphire theories.Ā

ā€œTaylor uses sapphire, a deep blue transparent gemstone to symbolize her tears showing how her sadness is something that others enjoy because she is still shimmering,ā€ one Genius user noted.

ā€œSapphire is also symbolic of new love and commitment which she alludes in the next lines to meeting a guy,ā€ the explanation continued, ā€œwhich we can infer that she is referencing the beginnings of her current relationship with Joe Alwyn.ā€

Of course, this isnā€™t the only precious stone named in ā€œBejeweled,ā€ as Swift proudly states that ā€œa diamondā€™s gotta shineā€ in the original track. Even outside of the Swift universe, there are specific beliefs attributed to the gemstone.Ā

According to The Spruce, sapphires are typically associated with royalty, ā€œbelieved to be good for attracting abundance, blessings, and gifts. It has been used to protect against negative energies, calm the mind, strengthen intuition, and invite spiritual clarity.ā€

Of course, Swift has not explicitly stated the reasoning behind her word choice.
