Fans of MTV‘s Teen Wolf are a little less excited for the revival movie after Paramount announced the cast list. A majority of the original cast from the television series is expected to return. However, Arden Cho, who played Kira Yukimura in Teen Wolf, is not going to be in the film allegedly because they offered her less money than her co-stars.

Arden Cho played Kira Yukimura in ‘Teen Wolf’

Kira, played by Arden Cho, moved to Beacon Hills in Teen Wolf Season 3. She met Scott McCall at Beacon Hills High School, and the two began dating.

Kira later discovered that she had supernatural powers and was a kitsune. She then joined Scott’s pack, and she utilized a sword to help her control her powers. Unfortunately, Kira discovered that there was so much to learn about her true identity because she often struggled to control her fox spirit. And in season 5, Kira left Beacon Hills to learn from the Skinwalkers.

Per Entertainment Weekly, Arden Cho announced she was leaving Teen Wolf in a YouTube video. “I think sometimes in a show where there’s so many characters, there isn’t always room for everyone … I do wish we would’ve developed a little bit more of her powers and the Skinwalkers.”

Arden Cho reportedly turned down an offer to be in the ‘Teen Wolf’ movie because of her reduced salary

According to Deadline, 12 original cast members will star in the new Teen Wolf movie.

The Teen Wolf cast list includes Tyler Posey as Scott McCall, Holland Roden as Lydia Martin, Shelley Hennig as Malia Tate, Crystal Reed as Allison Argent, Orny Adams as Coach Bobby Finstock, Linden Ashby as Sheriff Noah Stilinski, JR Bourne as Chris Argent, Seth Gilliam as Dr. Alan Deaton, Colton Haynes as Jackson Whittemore, Ryan Kelley as Deputy Jordan Parrish, Melissa Ponzio as Melissa McCall, and Dylan Sprayberry as Liam Dunbar.

Although Paramount+ claimed they would add more names to the list, Arden Cho will likely not reprise her role in the Teen Wolf movie. Per sources, the studio offered Cho half of the salary of her female counterparts, including Roden, Hennig, and Reed, so she denied the offer to return. It’s important to note that Cho is the only female actor of color among the four “teen” leads.

After the news was announced, fans took to social media to share their support for Cho. The actor tweeted, “Love you, wish I could give you all hugs,” while also liking tweets that supported her decision.

Who else didn’t make the cut?

Unfortunately, Dylan O’Brien and Tyler Hoechlin were missing from the Teen Wolf cast alongside Arden Cho. O’Brien played Stiles Stilinski, a fan-favorite, and Hoechlin played Derek Hale in the original series.

Hoechlin is currently starring in Superman & Lois on The CW, so scheduling conflicts may be involved in his absence from the cast list. And it’s unclear why O’Brien didn’t join the cast, but the actor did like a tweet in support of Cho. A fan on Twitter wrote, “Dylan O’Brien supporting Arden Cho. I love him so much!” And Cho replied, “He’s a good one.”

The Teen Wolf revival movie currently doesn’t have a release date, but many believe it will premiere in 2022.

The synopsis reads, “A full moon rises in Beacon Hills, and with it, a terrifying evil has emerged. The wolves are howling once again, calling for the return of Banshees, Werecoyotes, Hellhounds, Kitsunes, and every other shapeshifter in the night. But only a Werewolf like Scott McCall, no longer a teenager yet still an Alpha, can gather both new allies and reunite trusted friends to fight back against what could be the most powerful and deadliest enemy they’ve ever faced.”
