Terri Irwin Says She Wishes Steve Irwin Could ‘Share This Beautiful Moment’ as Daughter Bindi Irwin Announces Pregnancy
A baby Irwin is on the way! Bindi Irwin and her husband Chandler Powell are expecting their first child. The couple announced the happy news in an August 11 Instagram post, sharing that their “Baby Wildlife Warrior” was due in 2021.
“Chandler and I are proud to announce that we’re expecting! It’s an honour to share this special moment in our lives with you,” Bindi, 22, wrote.

Bindi’s mother Terri was quick to share how excited she was about her daughter’s big announcement.
“This is the best day ever! I am over the moon to announce that @BindiIrwin and @chandlerpowell9 are going to have a baby! Words cannot express the love that is filling my heart,” she tweeted.
Terri and Bindi, along with her brother Robert, appear on the Animal Planet series Crikey! It’s the Irwins. As a child, Bindi starred in the Discovery Kids series Bindi the Jungle Girl, while her mother and late father Steve Irwin rose to fame in the series Crocodile Hunter.
Steve Irwin was killed by a stingray in September 2006. In her tweet, Terri remembered her late husband and wished he could be there to become a grandfather.
“While I wish that Steve was here to share this beautiful moment, I know that he would be so proud,” she wrote.
Bindi is still grieving her father
It’s been nearly 14 years since Steve Irwin’s death, but his daughter is still mourning the loss of her dad. Bindi was just eight years old when her father passed away, and she says she still misses him.
“Some days you feel the grief more than others,” she told Stellar Magazine in 2019. “What gets to me are those moments when I’d love him to be here to share what we’re doing … I’ll think: ‘I wish Dad was here for this.’ But he’s just not there.”
The conservationist and TV personality added that there are times when she would like to be able to draw on her father’s wisdom.
“Sometimes I wish I could ask him a question: ‘How would you do this?’ or ‘What do you think about this?’” she said. “He was an incredible sounding board and incredibly wise. I miss that.”
She recently shared a sweet tribute to her dad
While Bindi’s father is no longer around, he is still a major presence in the Irwin family. Just days before announcing her pregnancy, she shared a touching tribute to her father on Instagram. Though he was not able to be present at her wedding in March 2020, an artist was able to create a wedding portrait featuring Bindi and her father, along with her husband, mom, and brother.
