Thor: Love and Thunder may bid farewell to one of the original saviors inherent to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, while Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder may swing his final blow and take his final bow (before passing on the hammer to Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster), his exit may lay the foundation for multiple new narratives.

The film could serve as a bridge — linking the old to the new. While fans say goodbye to the God of Thunder’s emotionally fraught saga, the film could reportedly introduce 5 completely new stories. Let’s break down the individual possibilities based on insider reports and narrative plausibility.

1. The A-Force

With both Valkyrie and Mighty Thor set to feature in the God of Thunder’s upcoming installment, it goes without saying that the movie will begin to hint at the formation of the A-Force.

Captain Marvel (or Valkyrie) will likely come to assemble a fierce group of female superheroes and warriors prepped to combat intergalactic threats. With two of the team’s presumed members in one film, the A-Force is sure to come into focus as the narrative unfolds.

2. The Fantastic Four

Rumor has is that Galactus’ Herald, the Silver Surfer, could make an appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder, serving as one of the film’s primary or secondary antagonists. If such is true, the film will provide a doorway to Galactus — the devourer of worlds — and the family of explorers who grow intimately familiar with both characters in the comics.

3. Hercules

While it’s unlikely that Hercules will serve a major role in Thor: Love and Thunder, the character could feature in a post-credits scene, establishing the basis for an entire trilogy (or more) in the MCU. According to We Got This Covered, Marvel Studios is eyeing Jai Courtney (A Good Day to Die Hard, Terminator: Genisys) for the role in Thor: Love and Thunder.

4. The X-Men (via Starsharks)

Though specific members of mutantkind may not appear in the MCU’s Thor: Love and Thunder, a species inherent to the X-Men narratives may. ScreenRant notes that director Taika Waititi plans to include Starsharks in the next Thor movie. So, what are Starksharks? They’re an alien race that first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #162. They feature alongside Xavier’s mutant squad throughout the 1980s. Thus, the MCU may begin to take small steps toward a larger mutant introduction via Love and Thunder.

5. Beta Ray Bill

Rumor has it that Beta Ray Bill will be coming into the MCU via Love and Thunder. As one of the only other characters capable of wielding Thor’s hammer, it’s easy to imagine a narrative in which Jane Foster (Mighty Thor) and Beta Ray Bill go on to fight side-by-side following Thor’s departure.

Not to mention, Thor and Bill go on to boast a brotherly bond (after a physical confrontation). Their bond could be the basis for new interpersonal dynamics in the upcoming film (especially with Loki now gone). Thus, the movie could work to spell out a future series for Beta Ray Bill and his go-to weapon in the comics, Stormbreaker.Â
