‘The Amazing Race’ Season 33: Caro and Ray Reveal if They’re Still Together

Stars from the CBS reality competition shows constantly crossover to other series on the network, and Caro Viehweg and Ray Gantt are the latest contestants to do so. The duo first met on Love Island, and they carried their relationship over to The Amazing Race for season 33. But since part of the season was filmed before the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, many fans wonder if Caro and Ray are still together after competing on The Amazing Race.

The couple met on ‘Love Island’

Before racing around the world on The Amazing Race, Caro and Ray found love on the first season of Love Island. Caro was the first to arrive on the island, and she immediately coupled up with Cashel Barnett. The two of them realized there were no romantic sparks between them, and Cashel left Caro for Kyra Green.

Caro then coupled up with a new islander named Cormac Murphy, but they weren’t meant to be either. Finally, Ray entered the competition, and he and Caro instantly hit it off.

The couple was together for the rest of the show and even made it to the finale of Love Island Season 1. However, viewers at home didn’t vote for them to win. Instead, Caro and Ray got third place. But, they wanted to make their relationship work and continued seeing each other outside of the show. Since Caro and Ray lived across the country from one another, they decided to compete together in The Amazing Race.

Caro and Ray broke up after ‘The Amazing Race’ Season 33 shut down production

Unfortunately, Caro and Ray’s relationship did not last, and they broke up sometime after filming the first few episodes of The Amazing Race Season 33.

Per E! News, Caro announced their breakup in a YouTube video in July 2020. She said, “We’re not dating anymore … It is sad because I do want to clarify that I really tried my hardest in this relationship, and I just don’t want to throw anybody under the bus. I don’t want to make my business be everybody’s business, but I guess I am because this is a YouTube video.”

Caro continued, “I just don’t feel like he was committed to the relationship how I was. And that’s why I decided to break up with him.”

Caro also posted on her Instagram story the morning of the premiere of The Amazing Race Season 33 to reaffirm her and Ray’s relationship status. She wrote, “Just to clarify, the show was filmed two years ago! We have gone our separate ways.”

CBS filmed the first three legs of The Amazing Race Season 33 in Feb. 2020 before shutting down due to the pandemic. Production restarted in Sept. 2021 and finished in Oct. 2021. So Caro and Ray broke up during the production shutdown of The Amazing Race.

Eleven teams are competing in The Amazing Race Season 33. Two groups were eliminated before production shut down, and two other teams couldn’t return to the competition once it restarted. So, seven pairs will remain after the third leg.

It’s unclear if Caro and Ray were eliminated before the fourth leg, if they chose not to return to The Amazing Race, or if they continued racing despite their relationship status.
