Prior to The Amazing Race Season 33, Kim and Penn Holderness already attained a small level of fame. Distractify reports the couple created a YouTube channel in 2011 that also featured their daughter, Lola, and their son, Penn Charles. Then, in 2013, they struck gold with their hit video, “Xmas Jammies,” where they parodied Will Smith’s “Miami.”

After their viral hit, they continued to make other parodies — and they kept finding success. Fox News, the Today show, ABC News, and the Food Network have all covered stories about the Holderness family. They also had their own special episodes of television featured on UPtv.

Kim and Penn Holderness do well at keeping their composure on The Amazing Race Season 33 — and it seems it’s because they’ve had plenty of practice working through fights as a couple in the past. During an interview with Marriage Kids & Money, they talked about fighting as a couple.

“If you never fight, I’m a little worried about you,” Penn said. “You are either a volcano waiting to erupt or you’re a dormant volcano … or, you’re just the most perfect people of all time.”

“Our fights aren’t the fights I grew up witnessing, which was slamming doors, insulting each other,” Kim noted. “We try not to raise our voice — I can’t promise that it never happens. We definitely do all of the magic words. Our fights don’t look like — there’s no door slamming, there’s no name-calling …. It’s a discussion. It’s a really passionate discussion.”

“I would worry about you if you never fight,” Kim added. “You’re humans. You’re going to see the world differently at some point.”
