Finally some good news in 2020. Netflix has officially renewed The Baby-Sitters Club for season 2. Premiering on July 3, 2020, the show stole the hearts of fans of all ages. Of course, Netflix is hardly the first to bring the story of the BSC to the screen. The Baby-Sitters Club is based on the wildly popular books by Ann M. Martin. Published between 1976 and 2000, the book series sold over 176 million copies and inspired a TV series in 1990 and a film in 1995 before Netflix decided to reimagine it for a new era.

Netflix’s rendition of ‘The Baby-Sitters Club’ was very well-received

The 2020 version of The Baby-Sitters Club has received overwhelmingly positive reviews. Fans have praised Netflix for diverse and age-appropriate casting. Furthermore, the show manages to tackle important issues like puberty, gender identity, socioeconomic status, family dynamics, and chronic disease in a way that is palatable for fans of all ages. In fact, the only critique for the show thus far is the lack of dark skin representation within the cast. But, hopefully, Netflix will consider this when they are casting new roles for season 2.

The cast announces that the show is getting a Season 2

Speaking of Season 2, on October 28, 2020, Netflix officially announced that the show had been picked up for a second season via an adorable video of the full cast who will all be reprising their roles. Sophie Grace, Momona Tamada, Shay Rudolph, Malia Baker, Xochitl Gomez, Anais Lee, and Vivian Watson (who play Kristy, Claudia, Stacey, Mary Anne, Dawn, Jessi, and Mallory respectively) all sing along to the song “Say Hello to Your Friends” before Rudolph excitedly exclaims, “We’re getting a Season 2!”
