After Fantasy Suite dates with Brandon, Joe Coleman, and Nayte Olukoya in The Bachelorette Season 18, Michelle knew she was going to break someone’s heart at the next rose ceremony. But before she could eliminate anyone, Brandon pulled the lead and promised he wasn’t trying to scare her.

“Michelle, when I told you that I put you first, I put you first,” Brandon said. “When I told you that I love you, and when I told you were truly becoming my best friend, I truly mean that I will be here for you, regardless of what happens to me.”

He continued, “Today might be my last day, but I just wanted to at least look you in the eye and just make sure that the woman I love more than anything is OK.”

The conversation with Brandon had Michelle in tears. But she continued with the rose ceremony. Michelle picked Nayte first. Then she called out Brandon’s name, and Joe was sent home.

Tayshia Adams reveals how Michelle Young felt after Brandon Jones spoke to her at the rose ceremony

Tayshia opened up about the moment between Brandon and Michelle in the Dec. 15 episode of the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast. The co-host shared that she was “shocked” when the contestant pulled the bachelorette aside and thought he was either going to leave or propose on the spot. But everything unfolded the way it did, and Tayshia revealed that she and co-host Kaitlyn Bristowe were just “very concerned” about Michelle after the talk.

“We actually talked to her right after Brandon had spoken to her,” Tayshia said. “She was just really shaken up by it, to be honest. She was like, ‘That conversation right there just made me more confused than anything. I was already really confused before coming into this.’”

Now, it seems like Tayshia believes that Brandon’s conversation with Michelle changed the bachelorette’s decision that led to Joe’s elimination.

Still speaking on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, the co-host noted that Joe was “always” on Michelle’s radar, and Brandon really surprised the lead in the end. She also reminded fans that Michelle told Joe that there would be a “next time” on the morning of their overnight date. So Tayshia speculated that Michelle and Brandon’s conversation solidified his spot in the final two with Nayte.

“I think it kind of validated that even though Brandon might be kind of young, it’s a very special bond that they have, and he is going to be there for her at the end of the day. And I think that’s really the reassurance that she needed,” Tayshia said. “I definitely think it had a part in Brandon staying that night.”
