Clare Crawley and Dale Moss’ relationship

Crawley liked Moss from the moment that he stepped out of the limo. After meeting him, she told the cameras that she thought she had met her husband.

“That was something that you can’t really anticipate with anybody, you don’t know,” she told Entertainment Tonight. ”[But I didn’t know] like, was he feeling that? Are we on the same page?

“Usually in my experience, as relationships go, there’s always somebody that’s ahead of the other person,” she continued. “It’s really rare that you connect on that same page at the same time, so it was just — it was one of those magical things that I guess just happens.”

The season ended early after Crawley made it abundantly clear that she wanted to be with Moss over any of the other men. She and Moss got engaged after just a few weeks of filming.

Clare Crawley and Dale Moss’ breakup

Earlier this week, Moss took to Instagram to announce their separation.

“I wanted to share with you all that Clare and I have decided to go our separate ways. We appreciate the love and support we’ve received from so many people, but this is the healthiest decision for both of us at this time,” he wrote. “We strongly believe in leading with love and always remaining true to oneself – something our families have taught and instilled in us throughout our lives. We only hope the best things for one another.”

Clare Crawley was ‘blindsided’ after ‘The Bachelorette’

Though Moss’ statement made it seem like the breakup was a mutual agreement, Crawley took to Instagram to state otherwise.

“I was made aware of a ‘mutual’ statement at the same time you all were, so I’ve needed some time to really digest this,” she wrote. “Speaking for myself, my intentions with this relationship have always been very clear, so the truth is I am crushed.

“This was not what I expected or hoped for and am still trying to process this,” she continued. “2020 was one hell of a year, with COVID, battling severe anxiety post-show, balancing a public new relationship, all while slowly losing my mother. It hasn’t been ideal circumstances, but that is life right. I have been looking forward to the light at the end of the tunnel.”

“I may not have all the answers, but I do know this — I will continue to show up, stand by my word, and be committed to love,” she finished.

Though Crawley knew that the two had issues, she didn’t think that they were headed toward a breakup.

“Clare feels blindsided by the split,” a source told People. “She genuinely thought they could make things work and after everything she’s been through, she can’t believe she’s in this place again.

“It’s been extremely painful and emotional,” the source said.
