Clare Crawley’s chapter of The Bachelorette is over after just a few episodes. From the first time she saw contestant Dale Moss exit the limo, she felt they had a special connection. And Moss felt the same way. After just one one-on-one and an overnight, Crawley’s final rose recipient got down on one knee and proposed. Today, they are still happily engaged.

But Crawley has been receiving, even for Bachelor Nation, an exorbitant amount of hate ever since her love story with Moss began to unfold. Not only does the former lead find the response she’s gotten from fans completely unfounded, but also, she wants to remind viewers that they’re not getting the full story.

Clare Crawley on the hate she’s been receiving from ‘Bachelorette’ fans

After the episode where Moss and Crawley got engaged aired, the couple took to Instagram Live to update fans (and haters) on their relationship. Crawley said she’s “the happiest [she’s] ever been” and clapped back at people who questioned her connection with her fiancé.

One Instagram user commented on the stream that they didn’t expect Crawley and Moss to last three months.

“I’d like to say pay up because we just had our three-month anniversary,” Crawley responded. “The amount of hate, you guys, is insane. People are just crazy, but we wanted to come on here for the people who are amazing and the people who understand.”

Crawley also spoke about the negative messages she’s been receiving from fans when she was on Good Morning America with Moss on Nov. 6. She made a point to mention that fans don’t know “how things really happened.”

“The things people say without knowing the full truth, without seeing how things really happened, genuinely happened, it just blows my mind,” she said. “In a world right now where there’s so much negativity, and hate, and hard things going on right now, love and this type of thing should not be one of those things. It kind of blows me away.”

Dale Moss’ portrayal on ‘The Bachelorette’

We may never really know what Crawley means when she says the way she and Moss ended up together, at least how it was portrayed, wasn’t the full picture, per her contract. But one thing that seems to stick out as inconsistent is Moss’ feelings for Crawley in real life (they are engaged, after all) and how he was portrayed during the season.

There were a couple of interviews that featured Moss’ feelings for Crawley, but not many. There were, however, a plethora of shots showing Moss look hesitant about being on the same level as the former lead.

But in the post-season interviews that have taken place, Moss reveals how he really felt about Crawley all along.

“After we had our first group date, in my mind and in my heart, everything was already written,” he said on GMA. “So, everything after the fact validated that and I knew in my heart it was going to be her and I at the end of the day.”

He also said that it was “never a question” if he’d propose to Crawley.

“I said from the beginning, ‘There was never a time I wouldn’t be there for you.’ And my heart was so full,” he said. “I knew exactly what I wanted to do. Never a second thought. If you see in the episode, we’re so relaxed and we’re so calm together, and we knew at that moment that we were exactly where we were meant to be.”
