For the past two seasons, many Bachelorette fans have grown used to Kaitlyn and Tayshia hosting reunion specials. But at the start of the Dec. 21 finale, Kaitlyn revealed that she would be doing her job without her co-host. She also noted that Tayshia was exposed to coronavirus (COVID-19).

“As you can see, I’m alone up here tonight,” Kaitlyn said. “Nothing like doing live TV solo. What could go wrong? … But in all seriousness, Tayshia was recently exposed to COVID. So she can’t be with us tonight.”

She added, “Tayshia, we – and I – are really going to miss you.”

While Tayshia wasn’t able to address her absence in person during The Bachelorette Season 18 finale, the co-host shared the news on her Instagram story.

“Tonight is the finale for Michelle’s season,” Tayshia said. “But as you guys may know, it’s a little crazy here in New York, and I was recently exposed. As an abundance of caution so Michelle could have her night – as well as Kaitlyn and all the crew to produce this live final tonight – I will not be there in person.”

She continued, “But that does not mean I will not be turning in, popping my popcorn, enjoying it all. I’m telling you right now, I was there in person for the finale, and it’s one you do not want to miss. … Because, oh god, it’s crazy. It’s absolutely crazy.”
