Tayshia Adams first appeared on ‘The Bachelor’

Before replacing Crawley on The Bachelorette, Adams was a contestant on Colton Underwood’s season of The Bachelor. The season premiered in January 2019 and concluded in March 2019. After Cassie Randolph self-eliminated, Adams was one of the final two contestants along with Hannah Godwin. However, Underwood elected to end the show to pursue a romantic relationship with Randolph.

In an interview with Vulture, Adams revealed what it was like watching the season on TV.

“To be honest, you can’t really make someone look worse than they are or better than they are. I was represented as I am every single day. My family and friends were very happy they saw the real me on the screen, as opposed to [me] pretending to be someone that I’m not,” she said. “I do think my funkier side could have been shown more. It wasn’t due to editing, but probably due to me being nervous around the cameras.”

Tayshia Adams thought she would be a ‘tough’ Bachelorette

Following her appearance on The Bachelor, Adams was considered for the lead role on the 15th season of The Bachelorette. After some consideration, Hannah Brown was cast as the lead instead. While speaking with Vulture, Adams disclosed how her season would hypothetically differ from Brown’s season of The Bachelorette.

According to Adams, she would be a “tough” Bachelorette due to her personality and life experience.

“I might be more tough on the guys, in the sense I’d need them to stand up a little bit more than Hannah. She’s pretty fun and doesn’t take herself too seriously all the time. The guys would definitely have to be much older, I’d tell you that much,” Adams told Vulture.

She continued, “I require a little bit more life experience, someone who really knows who they are and still aren’t trying to figure themselves out. Show up, or get out. No bullsh*t, let’s go, I’m trying to find a husband!”

‘The Bachelorette’ teased her appearance

While Adams was not originally selected to be on The Bachelorette back in 2019, she did go on to appear on the sixth season of Bachelor in Paradise. Following the most recent episode of The Bachelorette, a preview of the next episode, which will air on Nov. 5, teased Adams’ appearance.

On former Bachelor Nick Viall’s Viall Files podcast, ABC executive Robert Mills confirmed that Adams will replace Crawley. According to Mills, after Crawley refused to give out a rose on a group date during the episode from Oct. 27, he knew the show needed to replace her.

“The guys are starting to be in revolt… Those shots with producers that we don’t really like to show, breaking the fourth wall… we had to show [so] you could see what’s going through Clare’s head,” said Mills. “Tayshia will be part of the season starting next week… This is where, as Chris Harrison says, The Bachelorette will blow up.”
