Every season of The Bachelorette, a few fan favorites emerge. Sometimes the contestants that the fans love the most are not the ones that the leads are necessarily invested in. Joe Park quickly became beloved by viewers on Clare Crawley/Tayshia Adams’ season of the show. Recent lead picks have proved that anyone, even people who haven’t been on the show before, are eligible to be the Bachelor or Bachelorette. So, would Park ever be the Bachelor?

Joe Park on ‘The Bachelorette’

Park was one of the original men from Crawley’s season. He and Crawley didn’t necessarily form a strong bond as she was really only concerned with Dale Moss. When Adams stepped onto the scene, Park had renewed faith that he might be able to make a romantic connection. Unfortunately, Adams sent Park home on the Nov. 24 episode.

How did Joe Park end up on the show?

Unlike a lot of contestants, Park had never seen an episode of The Bachelorette before going on the show. Someone from the production team actually reached out to him.

“It was in the height of the pandemic of New York City, and somebody from the show reached out to me and asked if I’d be interested in exploring this opportunity,” Park told Entertainment Tonight. “It’s not something I would normally do but one, it’s 2020 and it’s been a crazy year, and two, if the pandemic taught me anything, it’s seize the opportunity, because tomorrow is not promised.

“It’s been a harrowing year for myself and other frontline workers,” he continued. “I was at a hospital in Brooklyn that I think in New York City was the second hardest-hit hospital. It really helped me reflect on how every moment is a gift.”

Was Joe shocked to get eliminated?

Park’s jokes and kind personality quickly made him a fan favorite. But that didn’t help him win the heart of Adams, who sent him home. For Park, getting eliminated was pretty emotional.

“I was actually pretty sad,” he told the outlet of how he felt leaving the show. “It was such a beautiful experience and it really was a beautiful moment that we had there amongst the guys, but also with Tayshia and Clare, all of us got to escape this pandemic reality we were living in, and I think everybody appreciated that moment. Honestly, I was pretty upset when I left. You didn’t get to see it, but I shed some tears.

Would Joe be the Bachelor?

In the past, the Bachelor has typically been someone who has made it relatively far on The Bachelorette. But given the fact that Matt James, the upcoming Bachelor, never even competed on the show, anyone with enough fan support could probably become the Bachelor.

When asked if he would go on Bachelor in Paradise, Park was pretty vague.

“I don’t know the answer to that, but I hope I’m in a committed relationship at some point soon! … If I’m single at that time, I would definitely evaluate that option, yes,” he said. “I would not say no right away, but I’d do a little more research and know what I’m getting myself into!”

And the same goes for being the Bachelor.

“I’ll answer the same way I would with Paradise — again, tomorrow is never granted,” he said. “I would hope I don’t have to answer that question, but it’s very flattering.”
