‘The Blacklist’ Season 9 Cast Explain Why Fans Keep Coming Back For Each Season
The Blacklist is back for season 9 and so too are the show’s loyal fans. Things look a little different for The Blacklist Season 9 now that creator Jon Bokenkamp and star Megan Boone have left the show. However, that’s not stopping devoted fans from tuning in every week. Although some have left the show behind, other fans remain as devoted as they were from day one. The cast of The Blacklist Season 9 discusses why they believe the show has such a dedicated fan base.
‘The Blacklist’ lost two major players
Fans can expect quite a bit of change in The Blacklist Season 9, and some are more excited about it than others. Megan Boone exited the show after the death of her character Liz Keen in the season 8 finale. Some fans are excited for a season of The Blacklist without Liz. Others will miss Boone’s character and have their doubts about how the show can continue without her.
Season 9 is also the first season without creator Jon Bokenkamp. “I love this show with all of my heart, and it’s been an incredible journey, but after eight years I feel it’s time for me to step out of my comfort zone, try something new, and explore a few of the other characters and stories that have been crawling around in my head,” he wrote on Twitter. Many fans did not take Bokenkamp’s exit well.
‘The Blacklist’ Season 9 still has a devoted fan base
Despite all the changes, The Blacklist still has a devoted fan base who are at least willing to give season 9 a chance. Several of The Blacklist Season 9 cast members were asked in interviews with FabTV, “What do you think keeps fans coming back each season knowing that The Blacklist is continuing and renewed for a 9th season?”
“They come back I think for a couple of reasons. I think that that formula we have, the recipe really has remained stable – that is that we have a great amount of acting talent,” said Harry Lennix who plays Harold Cooper. “I think we keep delivering the action and the intrigue,” he continued.
Laura Sohn, who played Alina Park, got candid about the acting talent. “I feel like fans are in love with James Spader,” she laughed. “I mean who isn’t?” Sohn continued of the question, “Each season brings new plots and new storylines and histories, and every single time that there’s an unveiling of the character’s history I feel like everyone’s very drawn into the humanity of the show.”
Diego Klattenhoff, who plays Donald Ressler, expressed his awe that the show is approaching 200 episodes. “It’s really amazing to think about creatively what goes into it and how the fans have dug into it, whether it’s the mythology of the characters, and just kind of gone on this journey with us.”
Will ‘The Blacklist’ Season 9 be the last season?
The Blacklist has not been confirmed for the tenth season, and many viewers believe season 9 will be the last. Bokenkamp and Boone shocked fans by exiting the show. Despite the series devoted fan base, some might not tune in this season. Still, it seems that other fans will keep watching as long as James Spader is on the show. It’s too soon to tell whether The Blacklist Season 9 will mark the show’s end, but it’s definitely a possibility.
