‘The Blacklist’ Season 9: Fans Don’t Care About Park’s Relationship Drama

In 'The Blacklist' Season 9, Park's husband Peter is angry that Park has been keeping so many secrets from him. Some fans aren't interested in this storyline or exploring Park's love life.

‘The Blacklist’ Season 9 introduced Colby Lewis as Alina Park’s husband

Lewis was cast to play Park’s husband Peter in The Blacklist Season 9. He was first introduced in the episode “Benjamin T. Okara.” Park has been hiding the fact that she returned to the FBI task force from her husband, but things soon come to light.

Park gets hit by Okara’s directed energy weapon. At the hospital, Peter learns the truth about Park’s job. The couple also learn that Park was pregnant, but the weapon caused her to have a miscarriage.

In “Dr. Roberta Sand, Ph.D.,” Peter returns and visits Park at work. Cooper remarks that things between the two of them are not good, and Park thought this would help. The couple seems at odds throughout the episode. By the end, Park receives some good advice from Aram and resolves to learn to love herself so Peter can love her too.

Many fans aren’t interested in Park’s relationship drama

The Blacklist incorporates mystery, action, and relationship drama all in one series. However, not all fans love every aspect of the show. Some fans don’t enjoy relationship drama in general on the series. Others feel that Park and Peter’s storyline just isn’t necessary for The Blacklist Season 9.

“Why do we need to explore Park and Peter’s relationship? I think everyone can agree this is a totally unnecessary filler that should be cleaved out of the storyline,” a fan commented on Reddit.

Other fans felt that there was a complete lack of chemistry between Park and her husband. “Park and Peter not a believable pair,” a fan commented on Reddit. “Yes, forcefully made-up relationship. Zero chemistry there,” another agreed.

Peter still hasn’t had much screen time and his attitude toward Park isn’t exactly compassionate when he does appear. It looks like many fans would prefer that this storyline just be put to bed.

Will Peter return later in ‘The Blacklist’ Season 9?

It’s possible that The Blacklist Season 9 Episode 6 was the last time Peter will appear in the series. Another fan on Reddit pointed out that Peter’s introduction may have been more about exploring Park’s anger issues, rather than her marriage.

“I think it is all about her losing control. She has a very bad anger streak and gets violent,” they wrote. “Remember Liz found out what she did when she was stationed in Alaska, she went ballistic on someone. And she beat up badly the guy that killed her best friend. Like she said to Ressler, she said she holds it all in because she is afraid of what happens when she loses control.”

By the end of episode 6, Park seems to have made a solid decision to work on herself. With that said, there might not be any more need for Peter in the show.
