Returning to season 3 before ‘The Blacklist’ Season 9

Cape May” has gone down as one of the most puzzling episodes of The Blacklist before season 9. It takes fans away from reality with hallucinations and confuses the real and the fake in Red’s head.

Then, the most mysterious part comes from a mysterious woman, played by Lotte Verbeek.

After Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Keen’s supposed death, Red became racked with grief. He began hallucinating — or possibly remembering.

At the end of the episode, one piece of physical evidence brought even more questions around the hallucination woman. And one Reddit user thinks they finally cracked their identity.

One fan might have solved the identity of Red’s hallucination woman

In a lengthy post, the Reddit user explained every step of their process. They used information up through The Blacklist Season 9.

“The viewer highlighted that because Red was in a confused state of mind: ‘Red does not recognize this woman as Katarina Rostova,’ Liz’s mother,” Express reported.

Then the Reddit user explained that Red went to the same place that one (or both) Katarinas faked their deaths in the waters. “We know this because the treasure hunter finds the locket, deep in the sand, there for 25 years,” they said.

Later, when the hallucination woman suspected they were in danger, she armed herself with a poker in her right hand.

“The fan pieced this clue and compared it to Russian Kate’s Moscow scenes earlier in season 2,” Express noted. The reason this clue remains significant comes from the fact that Katarina uses her left hand.

“‘The woman Red hallucinates with, the one who he does not recognize as Katarina Rostova, the one he does not know her name, is RIGHT HANDED, Katarina – Russian Katarina.'”

‘The Blacklist’ Season 8 brought new information about Katarina, but could season 9 bring more?

Liz’s mother has provided shocking twists and truth throughout the show. As The Blacklist Season 8 brought new information to light, fans wait to see more from the character in season 9.

However, as for the season 3 episode, one final piece of information caught the fans’ attention to the two Katarinas.

“When he runs again after her trying to stop her from going in the water for the second time, he hallucinates again with a Katarina, but this time, he recognizes who she is,” they said.

“You had no choice; it was me or Masha,” the hallucination woman said. “Raymond, you did save me. Through her. It was the only way. You chose well.”

And then the Reddit user caught a brief gesture.

“THIS hallucination uses her LEFT hand to touch his cheek. This hallucination is not about Russian Katarina, it is about American Katarina, telling him that by saving Masha, he saved her,” they said.

With the revelatory fan theory, fans wait anxiously to see The Blacklist Season 9 return on Oct. 21, 2021.
