‘The Blacklist’ Season 9 Welcomes ‘Law & Order’ Alum For the New Season

The wait is almost over for the premiere of The Blacklist Season 9. The season 8 finale left fans shocked after the death of a major character. Season 9 will begin with a time jump two years after the death of Liz Keen. Fans can expect James Spader to return to his iconic role as Raymond Reddington. However, a few new faces will be joining the cast as well, including one actor who will look quite familiar to Law and Order fans.

Diany Rodriguez is a ‘Law & Order’ alum

Diany Rodriguez played A.D.A. Maria Delgado on NBC’s Law & Order: Organized Crime. Her character helped the Organized Crime Control Bureau find evidence against Richard Wheatley. Delgado is a no-nonsense ADA who prefers evidence over rash decisions.

Law & Order is far from Rodriguez’s first acting credit. The actor is also known for her roles in the HBO thriller series The Outsider and the Showtime crime drama series Ray Donavan. She also played Gabriella Alvarez in the medical drama New Amsterdam.

‘The Blacklist’ Season 9 brings on Diany Rodriguez

The Blacklist Season 9 will pick up two years after the death of Liz Keen. The FBI task force has been disbanded and Reddington has disappeared in the wake of Liz’s death. Then, “a common purpose compels them to renew their original mission: to take down dangerous, vicious, and eccentric Blacklisters,” according to NBC‘s synopsis.

“In the process, they begin to uncover lethal adversaries, unimaginable conspiracies, and surprising betrayals that will threaten alliances and spur vengeance for the past, led by the most devious criminal of them all: Raymond Reddington.”

Diany Rodriguez joins the cast of The Blacklist Season 9. Her character, Weecha Xiu, is described as having a “tough physical presence and a hardened demeanor,” reports Deadline. “Weecha is more than capable of defending herself against anyone who might threaten her or her associates.”

Weecha will be a reoccurring character in the new season. Fans are excited to see some new faces join the cast of The Blacklist Season 9. For a series that has been on the air as long as The Blacklist, some new characters will be an exciting addition to the series.

Is James Spader in ‘The Blacklist’ Season 9?

Of course, James Spader will reprise his role as Reddington for The Blacklist Season 9. The show wouldn’t be the same without him. Diego Klattenhoff, Harry Lennix, Hisham Tawfiq, Laura Sohn, and Amir Arison are also confirmed to return, according to Digital Spy.

There are, however, a few familiar faces who won’t be returning. Megan Boone has confirmed that her time playing Liz has come to an end after the death of her character. “As her story ends I am grateful, most of all for the people I shared this time with,” Boone wrote on her Instagram. Laila Robins, who played Katarina Rostova, will also not be returning.

The Blacklist Season 9 premieres Thursday, Oct. 21 at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
