The Boys is based on a popular series of comic books, according to IMDb. The show, although it features many of the popular superhero tropes, manages to completely turn the genre on its head, with a storyline that follows a group of enhanced individuals known as the “Seven,” who, while they are considered by the public at large to be heroes, actually commit very depraved acts in private.

The Boys, led by Billy Butcher, are vigilantes who are looking to bring down not only the Seven but the organization that manages the heroes as well, known as Vought International. Featuring a star-studded cast, including Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, and Chace Crawford, The Boys quickly started earning critical acclaim after it debuted on Amazon Prime Video, with critics and fans praising the acting, writing, and clever humor.

What fan-favorite actors will be returning to Season 3 of ‘The Boys’?

After the second season of The Boys premiered in September 2020, fans clamored for more of The Boys. The series was renewed for a third season around the time of the second season’s debut -however, the COVID-19 pandemic delayed filming for quite some time, with showrunner Eric Kripke admitting that creating the third season was very hard. “It’s all slower and harder and takes longer. It’s been really, really challenging. The crew, to their credit, have been champs,” Kripke noted.

Fortunately, fans don’t have much longer to wait – and the good news is that they will get to see all of their favorite characters back in action. According to Insider, all the cast members from the second season will be returning for the upcoming third season of The Boys, including Billy Butcher, Hughie, and the “Supe” quad, along with a few new featured players on board as well. One of these new characters is a superhero known as Soldier Boy, played by fan-favorite actor Jensen Ackles. Additionally, fans of the original comic books can expect to see a lot of familiar locations and places, since Kripke noted that the production team took a lot of inspiration from the comics for Season 3.
