Katie Cooley thinks friendship with Trishelle Cannatella has ‘run its course’

The Inferno champ Katie Cooley (Doyle) returned for The Challenge: All Stars 2 without former longtime friend Trishelle Cannatella.

Last season, the ex-friends got into a heated exchange when Trishelle found out through another contestant who she would go against in elimination that night. It led to an explosive argument between the ladies in the middle of the night, and they didn’t have time to repair it as Trishelle ended up going home.

The former friends addressed the disagreement and gave more detail into what led to the heated exchange shortly after the episode aired but haven’t talked about their friendship since then.

In a Nov. 2021 interview with TV Line, published soon before the premiere of Season 2, Katie briefly touched on it when asked if she had any interest in fixing their relationship. The Challenge star explained the two haven’t spoken and admitted she thinks their friendship has “run its course.” Even so, she noted she doesn’t have any “ill will” toward her former friend and hoped “the best” for her.

The longtime friends got into a heated argument during ‘The Challenge: All Stars’ Season 1

In 2003, Katie and Trishelle established a close friendship, and the two became roommates for six years. After living together, they remained good friends and participated in one another’s weddings.

They kept in contact but hadn’t hung out in several years before returning to the Challenge house for the first season of the All Stars spinoff. The two immediately decided to room with one another, and it seemed like old times until Trishelle landed in the second elimination.

When the memorable contestant discovered who she would face through another player, it upset her, and she confronted Katie about it. The two seemingly made up when Katie explained she took a detour before coming back to the room to grab food.

However, the two awoke nearly everyone in the house with a yelling match in the middle of the night. According to Trishelle, she felt she had Katie’s back and didn’t feel her longtime friend reciprocated it.

Trishelle seemingly took the blame for the miscommunication

After the episode aired, Trishelle explained the two hadn’t talked since filming on the Watch With Us: Challenge Edition podcast, noting she felt the friends “did outgrow each other.” Even so, The Real World star claimed she thought they could somewhat repair their relationship.

Trishelle seemingly took the blame, admitting her nerves got the best of her before heading into elimination, and she took what happened with Katie personally. Additionally, it upset her that she didn’t feel supported by her friend because she “needed something from back home.”

Katie opened up about the fallout during the official aftershow following the episode, claiming Trishelle tried to quit the show after their argument. Additionally, she insisted that she cheered for her former friend, even though the edit shows differently.

While The Inferno winner noted that Trishelle contacted her family and seemingly took responsibility for the fight, she pointed out that her former friend hadn’t talked to her. Katie also admitted she felt Trishelle intentionally made comments to “hurt” her, making her think that The Real World star never genuinely liked her. The Challenge: All Stars 2 airs Thursdays on Paramount+.
