Lio Rush began wrestling in 2014

Born in Maryland, Lionel Gerard Green knew he wanted to become a professional wrestler by the age of 5. He received his first start in 2014, at the age of 20, in the independent circuit under “LI Green” before changing it to “Lennon Duffy.”

He also competed in Combat Zone Wrestling for three years, where he decided on his current name, Lio Rush, and switched to a heel or villain. He then appeared in Ring of Honor in 2016 before making his debut in the WWE, which was his dream, two years later.

After winning several matches, Rush took a break from wrestling to focus on his mental health. However, the company released him from his contract in Apr. 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since leaving the WWE, the wrestler has competed with NXT and returned to the independent circuit.

Lio Rush briefly competed on ‘The Challenge’

In 2020, Rush debuted on MTV reality competition series, The Challenge: Double Agents, and partnered with U.K. rookie Gabby Allen. Due to their smaller stature, the other competitors quickly pegged them as a layup to compete against for a gold skull.

However, the main alliances immediately went after each other, allowing Rush and Allen to remain under the radar. Even though they received a few thrown votes, the two were never voted into or picked for an elimination.

While it seemed they were in a good spot and could go far, Rush withdrew from the competition after a few episodes. The wrestler told Nany González that waking up next to strangers “triggered” previous trauma he had as he spent time in a group home.

Additionally, his wife was pregnant. Therefore, Rush decided to go home to take care of his mental health and tend to his upcoming family.

Lio Rush welcomed their first child with wife Sarah Green

Around Feb. 2018, Rush, who lived in Florida at the time, began dating Malaysia-based tattoo artist Sarah Green. She frequently showed up to support his wrestling matches, and the couple has vacationed to several places together, including Los Angeles, California, and Ontario, Canada.

He then asked her to marry him in Sept. 2018 during a trip to the Bahamas, and he met her father the following month as her parents still live in Malaysia. The couple then tied the knot in Dec. 2018 before starting a joint podcast, Couple of the Hour, a month later.

Rush also met Green’s mother in Mar. 2019 and then they spent their honeymoon in Nassau. A year later, in Aug. 2020, the couple relocated to LA before announcing they were expecting their first child together a month later.

The two found out they would have a baby boy in Dec. 2020 and then welcomed the child, Miko Che Lok Green, on Feb. 21, 2021. Their newest addition joins their family of two boys Rush fathered from a previous relationship, and three dogs.
