Marie Roda on ‘The Challenge’

After appearing on The Real World: St. Thomas, then 23-year-old Staten Island-native Marie Roda competed on spinoff series The Challenge: Battle of the Seasons alongside three of her former housemates Laura Waller, Trey Weatherholtz, and ex-fling Robb Schreiber.

However, they were eliminated before the finals. She then took a five-year break before returning for Invasion of the Champions, where rookie Kailah Casillas sent her home in the second episode.

The reality star came back for Dirty 30, but Tori Deal sent her to the Redemption House relatively in the competition, and she failed the re-entry challenge. The Real World star returned for Vendettas, where Casillas sent her home again.

Roda came back for Final Reckoning partnered with Cara Maria Sorbello, and she made the finals for the first time. The ladies placed fourth but left empty-handed. While she recently appeared on Ex on the Beach Season 3, the 31-year-old has yet to return for another season of The Challenge.

‘The Challenge’ renewed for another season

Shortly before the finals for The Challenge 35 premiered, ViacomCBS announced it renewed the reality competition series for a record 36th season.

Up 10% in viewership, likely due to the fresh red skull twist and lack of sports during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Total Madness is on pace to be the show’s highest-rated season since Battle of the Exes (2012).

According to insiders, the casting crew has already started calling potential competitors to return for the upcoming season.

Apparently, they phoned Roda wanting her to come back, but the Staten Island-native reportedly declined as she no longer wants to work with MTV.

Marie Roda says she’ll never return to ‘The Challenge’

In a July 2020 tweet, Roda, who relocated to South Florida where she works in aesthetic medicine, shared she “ended the mental torture” after “suffering from character assassination, PTSD, and severe depression” over the past several years by telling MTV to lose her phone number, in so many words.

While many fans responded with their support, others sent The Real World star hate and mocked her mental health claims. Therefore, the reality star deleted her Twitter and limited the comments on her Instagram account.
