Which former ‘Challenge’ finalist has sparked rumors about season 38?

The Challenge began more than two decades ago as a competition between former stars of The Real World and Road Rules. But in recent seasons, the show has added cast members from other MTV and CBS’ reality shows. As well as international contestants from around the globe.

Melissa Reeves, who fans first met on season 2 of Ex on the Beach UK, has appeared in three seasons of The Challenge so far — Vendettas, Final Reckoning, and Total Madness.  She was a finalist in Total Madness, coming in fourth. And now, she’s sparked rumors that she will be back for season 38.

Reeves posted on social media that she was looking for a personal trainer to get her fit in four weeks. And superfan account @jaychallenge37 shared a screenshot of the post with the caption, “Melissa for season 38?”

Fans react to Melissa Reeves’ possible return

When fans noticed Melissa’s post, the reaction to her possible return was mostly positive. One excited fan wrote, “WOOOOOO ❤️❤️❤️.” And another fan said they wanted to see Melissa next season without ‘Messy’ Fessy Shafaat and other Big Brother alumni.

A third Challenge fan suggested that Melissa would be back because of Fessy because she may have developed a thing for the former college football player during Total Madness.

Another possible contestant in season 38 is Johnny Bananas. He told host TJ Lavin on the Death, Taxes, and Bananas podcast that he was ready to return to help “save the franchise” and right the “sinking ship” that the past few seasons have caused.

What we know about ‘The Challenge’ season 38

MTV has yet to release any details about the upcoming season of The Challenge. We don’t know the theme or location, but host TJ Lavin has hinted about the direction of the reality competition series.

“You push yourself past the limit, and you just do it because you have to,” Lavin said, per The List. “That’s the direction we were trying to go. Having a show that’s filled with drama is all well and good. There’s a place for that, but competition shows are where it’s at now.”

Rumor has it that filming for season 38 will begin in late May and run through July. This lines up with Melissa’s request to get fit in four weeks. There’s also talk about bringing back more rookies and international contestants, just like they did on Spies, Lies, and Allies.

“The Challenge 38 will have eight MTV cast members and 30 CBS/Internationals too,” claims spoiler guru GamerVev on Reddit.

MTV has not yet announced a premiere date for season 38. But if the May to July filming schedule is accurate, fans can likely expect a premiere in late 2022. Meanwhile, season 3 of The Challenge: All Stars premieres on May 11 on Paramount+.
