Jasmine Davis appeared in several seasons of The Chi before leaving the series in controversy ahead of its fifth season. She played Imani, the ride-or-die partner to Luke James’ Trig Taylor. Newer reports allege that she left the TV show after she was accused of turning in a fake vaccination record. But Davis has refuted that, dismissing it as an attempt to save face by covering up what she says is the real reason for her exit.

Jasmine Davis announced her exit from ‘The Chi’

Davis announced in April that she was leaving the show after just a couple of seasons. Writing on Twitter around the time, she hinted that she quit because of the environment around the series.

“It’s really good to hear that my fans enjoy my [presence] on the show #thechi but sis I had to protect my peace,” she tweeted as fans continued to discuss her departure from the show. “My [apologies] 2 u all. I tried [to] hang on as long as I can bear. I rather be somewhere I’m appreciated Not tolerated I know my work thank you for your love and support.”

She denied reports that she quit because a vaccination status issue

Davis promised the full situation would be revealed “in time.” However, she did take a moment recently to debunk a report from Page Six, in which a source claimed she’d left amid an investigation into her alleged use of a fake vaccination card.

Addressing the report on Instagram Live, Davis dismissed that as a “political stunt” to allegedly cover up what she says is the real reason she left the show.

“It’s really sad that people try to use a political stunt to try and slur my name,” she said. “I have given them months, and they knew about me leaving back in December. I’d already told them I was coming forth to tell the people why I left before I even announced that. So I just want you guys to remember something: They are just now trying to slur my name. They are only doing this in a counterattack against what I’m about to say. They are so afraid of what I’m about to say that they had to strike with their counterattack before I even spoke one word in an interview.”

“This should let everyone know — the American people and all my fans in Europe right now that’s looking — how and what I had to deal with. I am no longer afraid. I no longer fear being bullied. I’ve already experienced getting bullied for two years straight. I’m no longer affected by any harshness, any more emotional abuse that I’ve had to endure. And this is their latest attack. And I feel sorry for them that they had to go this low to use a political attack to try to defame my name of a show that already was dysfunctional.”

She claimed to have ‘receipts’ and promised to discuss the situation fully at a later date

Going on, Davis called the claims in the report “false” and said she has receipts to prove what really happened.

“I have receipts of me constantly complaining about treatment, how I felt like I was treated by some employees on the Disney productions,” she went on. “I have receipts, recordings of me complaining about the treatments. … Receipts of the so-called people still wanting to work with me after I denied them of their proposal.”

“So I’m just at my wit’s end,” she added. “Like they had no other thing. They can’t go around and say bad things about me. I’m not one of those people … so they had to use a political stunt, which don’t even matter. No one cares about that. A political stunt which is not even the truth.”

Davis maintains she was already leaving the show and promised to explain why in a series of interviews set to come out next week.
