‘The Circle’ Season 1 recap

Joey Sasso won the first US season of The Circle on Jan. 15, 2020. He played the game as himself — players can choose whether they want to “catfish” other players or not — a 25-year-old from Rochester, New York. The runners up from The Circle Season 1 include Shubham Goel, Samantha “Sammie” Cimarelli, Chris Sapphire, and Seaburn Williams.

Who won ‘The Circle’ Season 2?

A “catfish” won season 2 of The Circle, proving it doesn’t always pay to be yourself. Deleesa St. Agathe played the game as her husband, Trevor, taking home the grand prize on May 5, 2021.

St. Agathe is married, but she played the game as a “single father” to tug at the heartstrings of her competition. She beat Chloe Veitch, Courtney Linsen, Lee Swift, and Jack Atkins & Lisa Delcampo, who played as a duo.

Casting is still open for future seasons of ‘The Circle’

Thanks to the success The Circle has experienced, The Hollywood Reporter confirms the show would return with more seasons. “It’s been incredible to see Netflix members everywhere respond to the raw, authentic stories of real people and real stakes,” said Brandon Riegg, VP of Nonfiction and Comedy Specials at Netflix.

If you want to compete in The Circle Season 4, there’s still time to apply! The application asks for some basic information, including why you want to be on the show.

According to casting director Erin Tomasello, The Circle isn’t interested in fake people — which is ironic, considering you can be fake on the show. “Don’t say things you think we want to hear,” she told Slate. Instead, she suggests being your authentic self and saving the fake stuff for the competition. The application deadline is Oct. 2021.
