Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes might be the most private couple we’ve ever seen. They’ve been together for nearly a decade and share two children. Yet, they rarely make public appearances together and keep their comments about their life to an absolute minimum.

On the outside, the pair appears to have a great relationship. But how are they holding up during the coronavirus quarantine? Sources weighed in on the topic in a recent report and said the actors are actually doing better than ever.

A quick timeline of Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes’ relationship

Mendes told Oprah Magazine in 2019 that she and Gosling met “a while” before they co-starred in the crime drama The Place Beyond The Pines (2012). The actors began dating in 2011 and welcomed two daughters in the years that followed: Esmeralda, 5, and Amada, 4.

“It sounds so cliché, but I never knew that life could be this fun and this great,” Gosling previously told People of his life with Mendes and their kids. (via Life & Style). “It’s heaven. It’s like walking through a field of flowers every day. I live with angels.”

In 2016, Us Weekly reported that Gosling and Mendes had secretly tied the knot, but a representative later denied the claims. Although they might not be married, it seems like marriage couldn’t make them any more solid. Nearly 10 years into their relationship, the two have built a lasting bond and seem to get stronger by the day.

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes’ life in quarantine

We’ve seen so many couples split during the coronavirus quarantine. But a source told HollywoodLife on May 16 that it actually brought Gosling and Mendes even closer. While an insider admitted that things can be “stressful,” Gosling and Mendes are reportedly tackling this time in their lives as a “team.”

“They don’t have nannies so they’re going through the same thing as all the other parents out there. It can be stressful at times, but they’re solid. It helps that they’re such a team,” the source explained.

“Ryan’s not the kind of dad that just hides in his office,” the source went on. “He’s in the kitchen making the meals, he’s outside playing games, he does bedtimes, whatever is needed he does, it’s a very equal partnership.”

In the past, Mendes herself has praised Gosling for how hands-on he is when it comes to taking care of their family. “Ryan is an amazing chef AND baker,” she wrote online in February in response to a fan asking about how they are in the kitchen. “For reals. Incredible. No joke. I’m not sure that what I do is cooking. It’s more like steaming veggies and juicing and making rice. He really cooks. I survive.”

Why Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are so private

Frankly, their personal lives are no one’s business. Mendes opened up in April about their desire to keep things on the low, saying: “As far as Ryan and I, it just works for us this way to stay private.”

“I have always had a clear boundary when it comes to my man and my kids. I’ll talk about them, of course, with limits, but I won’t post pictures of our daily life,” Mendes continued.

Speaking specifically on why she has never revealed her children, the Hitch actress added: “Since my children are so little and don’t understand what posting their image really means, I don’t have their consent. And I won’t post their image until they’re old enough to give consent.”

Eh, fair enough.
