The Duggar Family Congratulates Derick Dillard in Wake of Josh Duggar Scandal
The Duggar family is deep in hot water thanks to Josh Duggar. Josh was arrested at the end of April 2021 due to allegedly obtaining child sexual abuse images, and his parents and siblings are figuring out how to move forward with fans and critics. Recently, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar posted an unexpected congratulatory message to Jill Duggar’s husband, Derick Dillard, amidst the chaos with Josh. Here’s what happened.
Is Derick Dillard still in law school? Jill Duggar posted about his graduation
Derick’s accomplishments certainly make Jill proud. The Duggar family favorite posted about her husband finishing up law school, and fans watched Derick complete his certification through the years. On May 10, 2021, Jill posted a photo of Derick in his graduation gear with herself and their two little boys.
“I’m incredibly proud of @derickdillard and all the hard work he put into #lawschool the past 3 years!” Jill captioned the post. She then noted their little family celebrated at Derick’s commencement ceremony and followed with a brisket dinner. “Babe, I look forward to what God has in store for the future and I’m so thankful to get to be your cheerleader all the way!” Jill ended the post.
Derick entered his final year of law school in August 2020. And he explained via Twitter why he was getting his degree in the first place. “Help people who are taken advantage of, among other things,” he noted.
The Duggar family gave Derick a shoutout via Instagram
It looks like the Duggar family is giving Derick a shoutout for his graduation. They took a screenshot of Jill’s Instagram post and added it to their Instagram Stories. “Congrats @derickdillard!” they added over the screenshot.
This is quite monumental for Jim Bob and Michelle, as they notoriously have beef with Derick. Back in March 2021, the family didn’t congratulate Derick when he got his legal certification. And this came after Derick called the Duggar parents out for what Jill endured as a kid.
According to Derick, he and Jill are only allowed in the large Duggar family home with Jim Bob’s permission. And while Jill seems to see Michelle often enough, she rarely posts photos with her father. Not only that, but Jill’s talked about how she had to fight to get pay for participating in TLC’s Counting On. And she noted many of her siblings don’t agree with her decision to step away from the family.
Derick also “liked” a very pointed comment from a fan. “Glad you were ‘allowed’ to visit with them,” the fan comment read.
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar haven’t posted to Instagram about Josh Duggar
Jim Bob and Michelle’s post supporting Derick on the Duggar Family Instagram comes at a particularly interesting time. Josh Duggar’s arrest is making serious news, and there’s no doubt all eyes are on his parents and siblings to see what they post. Aside from a brief statement about Josh, Jim Bob and Michelle haven’t posted anything to social media about the seriousness of their oldest son’s situation.
“We appreciate your continued prayers for our family at this time,” the couple wrote. “The accusations brought against Joshua today are very serious. It is our prayer that the truth, no matter what it is, will come to light, and that this will all be resolved in a timely manner. We love Josh and Anna and continue to pray for their family.”
So, will Jim Bob and Michelle fix their issues with Derick and Jill in the wake of Josh’s latest scandal? Fans assuredly hope something will change.
