The Duggar family’s reality TV show, Counting On, is in the midst of yet another season. For family followers, the current season seems a lot like the last several seasons. New babies are born, and pregnancy announcements are being made. That’s happened every single season since the show began. What does appear to be missing from this season is a new courtship. In fact, the Duggar family has failed to announce a courtship since 2018. It is the longest the family has gone without a new relationship since Jessa Duggar started dating Ben Seewald in 2013. So, what is taking so long, and who will be the next Duggar to announce a relationship?

The Duggar’s haven’t gone this long without a courtship since Jessa announced her relationship in 2013

At this time, eight of the Duggar kids are married. Josh and Anna were the first couple to wed, way back in 2008. Their marriage happened just as the family’s show was getting started. Most fans consider Jessa’s courtship the beginning of the heavily advertised relationships. Ever since Jessa went public with Ben, the family has announced at least one courtship each year. The same year that Jessa started courting Ben, Jill Duggar announced her intention to marry Derick Dillard.

In 2016, Jinger Duggar married Jeremy Vuolo, followed by Joy-Anna Duggar’s marriage to Austin Forsyth. Joseph Duggar popped the questions at Joy’s wedding reception and married Kendra Caldwell just a few months later. They married in September 2017. Josiah Duggar and Lauren Swanson married in 2018, and John David Duggar’s bachelor years officially came to an end, too. John married Abbie Burnett in November 2018 in an aviation-themed ceremony and reception.

Is a courtship the only thing that can save the family’s show?

Duggar family followers strongly believe the family’s television show is on the chopping block. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have been working with TLC for more than a decade, but there is reason to believe their luck is running out. Not only has the family’s content become rather stale, but the Duggars are dealing with a potential federal investigation, and two Duggar daughters abandoning the family’s show. Is a courtship the only thing that could save the series?

Family followers suspect that Jana Duggar’s courtship is the only thing that could be interesting enough to keep fans watching. Viewers have watched as 30-year-old Jana has served as a bridesmaid countless times. She has also acted as a wedding planner and has shown up to babysit many of her nieces and nephews. Jana has raised children, turned a plot of land into an expansive garden, and appears to be skilled in home design. Jana can seemingly do anything, but one thing Jana can’t seem to do is land a husband. Jana’s courtship would certainly draw the attention of viewers, but family followers suspect there could be a reason she’s chosen not to marry yet.

Two new Duggars have joined Instagram

Family followers may be desperate to see Jana finally settle down, but her single status doesn’t appear to be changing anytime soon. At the very least, there has been nothing to indicate she’s even entertaining potential suitors, let alone getting close to marriage. If a Duggar courtship is going to happen, fans strongly suspect one of the younger Duggar boys will be the one to walk down the aisle.

Both Jedidiah Duggar and Jason Duggar has joined Instagram in recent months. That might not seem like a clue, but for the Duggar family, social media is largely reserved for people who are getting close to tying the knot. In fact, before Jana made a debut on the platform in January 2019, no unmarried Duggar was given access to social media. Jedidiah’s social media presence seems to be tied to his political aspirations. Jason, on the other hand, appears to have joined the social network for business purposes, although some followers strongly suspect he could be dating.  If a courtship announcement is forthcoming, fans will need to wait a bit. It’s unlikely that the family will announce a new relationship before Counting On’s season finale.
