‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’: Fans Think Martha Stewart Totally Ignored Drew Barrymore During Their Cooking Segment
There’s currently a lot going on with Ellen DeGeneres. The comedian is under fire after staff from The Ellen DeGeneres Show called out toxic behaviors from producers. And now, more folks than ever are focusing on old interviews on the show that seem a bit off.
Martha Stewart once visited the show to teach Drew Barrymore and DeGeneres how to cook. And fans noticed Barrymore seems totally out of place in the segment. Here’s what they’re talking about.
Ellen DeGeneres is under fire for how production treated the staff of ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’
Staff from The Ellen DeGeneres Show took to Buzzfeed News to share their experiences on the show — and it’s certainly putting the comedian in a less desirable light. The staff members who spoke to the media noted the big producers created a toxic workplace culture.
“That ‘be kind’ bullsh*t only happens when the cameras are on. It’s all for show,” a past employee said. “I know they give money to people and help them out, but it’s for show.”
Others think DeGeneres should’ve known what was happening behind the scenes since it’s her show. “If she wants to have her own show and have her name on the show title, she needs to be more involved to see what’s going on,” another noted. “I think the executive producers surround her and tell her, ‘Things are going great, everybody’s happy,’ and she just believes that, but it’s her responsibility to go beyond that.”
Since the report, DeGeneres has apologized to her staff and fired a few head producers. So we’ll see if more changes are made in the future.
Martha Stewart had a segment with Drew Barrymore on the show
We’re not sure what the fate of The Ellen DeGeneres Show is. But many are now revisiting old clips — and one of Stewart and Barrymore caught our eye.
The clip starts with Stewart talking about her 85th book with DeGeneres — and Barrymore is off to the side during the explanation. Then, Stewart dives into her first cocktail — and Barrymore attempts to take part in the recipe. But Stewart quickly moves on to her popcorn and quesadillas without paying too much attention to Barrymore’s involvement.
“Have you ever made quesadillas?” Barrymore asks.
“I have!” Barrymore says with her hand raised while off to the side. But Stewart doesn’t pay her any mind.
“Have you peeled a pepper like this?” Stewart asks again, ignoring Barrymore.
“I have!” Barrymore once again exclaims, but to no avail, as Stewart continues on without recognizing Barrymore’s involvement.
The segment continues on as Stewart continues to show off some recipes. And when Stewart finally acknowledges Barrymore for doing a “beautiful job” on her dish, Barrymore seems shocked she finally got some recognition.
Fans think Stewart totally ignores Barrymore
Barrymore was in high spirits throughout the segment, though fans definitely noticed that she was the odd woman out.
“Does Martha not like Drew? She just ignored her,” one fan commented on the clip.
“Drew was like the middle child,” another noted. “Everyone ignores the middle child.”
“Drew dealt with this like a boss,” yet another wrote. “She’s actually hilarious.”
“Both Martha and Ellen didn’t include Drew in this,” another fan commented. “I felt bad for her. Still Drew was a great sport. And Ellen should stop acting like a child / diva during food segments. It is getting annoying now.”
We’re sure there are no hard feelings between any of the celebrities in this clip. Even so, it’s funny to see how Stewart, Barrymore, and DeGeneres deal with these situations. And we hope to see them all on our TVs again in the near future.
