The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 will continue the story of June Osborne as she works to escape Gilead’s clutches and free her daughter, Hannah, from the theocracy. Given the trailer, it looks like June is able to free herself and a few others — but she’s not finished yet. She fully intends to finish what she started and take down Gilead once and for all.

Moss visited The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in April 2021 to talk about her character and the new season. Not only does Moss play June, but she also directed a few of the episodes.

“I do feel like we have built something over the past three seasons that, quite rightly, needs to be fulfilled, and I think that we do that this season,” Moss said. She then added that season 4 fulfills the promises the previous seasons made. “We really get to see, not just June, but a lot of these characters really go to places they’ve never gone before and change dramatically, and it’s a huge season.”

A new clip shows June Osborne overtaking Aunt Lydia

While Moss visited The Tonight Show, a new clip from The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 aired. The clip is from an episode directed by Moss herself.

The new clip begins with the camera on Aunt Lydia, a known antagonist from the series. Aunt Lydia is in charge of keeping the handmaids in line, as she works for Gilead. She’s seen in a van knee to knee with a number of handmaids as someone else is driving them to a location.

“It’s so wonderful being all together, isn’t it?” Aunt Lydia asks the silent handmaids.

The handmaids then start making eye contact with each other as June spies a weapon that could be used against Aunt Lydia in Aunt Lydia’s hands. June’s face is intense, as she clearly contemplates the possible repercussions for attacking. But given the panicked look on the other handmaids’ faces, as well as the stern look on June’s, it’s clear June knows what she must do.

June then grabs the weapon and quickly presses it against Aunt Lydia’s neck.
