June asks for justice in ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ season 4 trailer

The first few episodes of season 4 of The Handmaid’s Tale follow June’s brutal ordeal as a Gilead prisoner and her harrowing escape from the country with Janine (Madeline Brewer). The two wind up in the war-torn city of Chicago, where Gilead is fighting to gain a stronghold.

But in the season 4 trailer, it looks like June will somehow make it out of Chicago and into Canada. In one scene, she is on a boat that is flying the Canadian flag. And in another, she is face to face with Serena Joy Waterford (Yvonne Strahovski).

But the most thrilling clip in the trailer is when June stands at a podium, clean-cut and dressed in a suit. “I ask for justice,” she says defiantly.

Season 4 will feature unexpected character interactions

In the fourth season of The Handmaid’s Tale, the show’s separate worlds will finally collide. According to O-T Fagbenle, who plays June’s husband Luke, the series will bring together characters fans would never expect.

“You see characters interact you don’t expect to interact with each other,” Fagbenle told Gold Derby. “You see aspects of the world you’ve never seen before.”

“It’s a lot,” he added. “And I guess I would just say, don’t stop watching because it gets better and better and more and more mind-melting.”

‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ star Amanda Brugel teases punishments for some of Gilead’s villains

After seeing Gilead physically, emotionally, and mentally torture and abuse women for three seasons, fans want to see some payback. Luckily, according to The Handmaid’s Tale star/director Elisabeth Moss, this season will feel a lot more cathartic.

“I do feel like we have built something over the past three seasons that quite rightly needs to be kind of fulfilled, and I think that we do that this season, with season four,” Moss told E! News

“We kind of fulfill a lot of the promises that we’ve made over the last three years, and we really get to see, not just June, but a lot of these characters really go to places they’ve never gone before and change dramatically.”

And as teased by Amanda Brugel, who plays Rita, fans can also expect to see some of Gilead’s worst finally face justice.

“I think that fans can finally expect a payoff for some of the people in Gilead to face punishments or to face what they’ve done to all of these women,” she told ET Canada.

With June finally out of Gilead, free to speak her truth, she may become the catalyst for some of these much-needed ramifications. Fans will just have to wait and see how the rest of this thrilling season unfolds. New episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale hit Hulu on Wednesdays.
