New episodes of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Season 4 are coming soon

Get ready — Hulu will release the first three episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 on April 28. Then the remaining seven episodes will drop every Wednesday starting May 5.

Meanwhile, the streaming platform already confirmed The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5. So there are more stories to tell beyond the upcoming finale.

“It’s my privilege and honor to tell this story,” Elisabeth Moss (who plays June Osborne) said when the renewal was announced. “It’s going to be a wild ride.”

‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Season 4 promo confirmed Serena Joy Waterford is pregnant

Whatever happens in The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4, the Hulu drama has been dropping some major clues ahead of the premiere. In early April 2021, the streaming service dropped a new promo trailer that suggested Serena was pregnant. Then a few days later, the theory was confirmed.

In a Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 teaser, Serena confronted Mark Tuello (Sam Jaeger). Mrs. Waterford asked to “separate her interests” from Fred Waterford (Joseph Fiennes), claiming she was “done” with her husband. But then Tuello revealed Serena was pregnant.

The Handmaid’s Tale promo highlighted the complicated nature of Serena’s pregnancy. The character stared straight into the voice. Everyone knows she has always wanted to be a mother. That said, Serena just turned on Fred, and he was arrested in Canada. Serena was also arrested for crimes against humanity, sexual slavery, and rape because of what she did to June and Nick Blaine (Max Minghella).

For now, The Handmaid’s Tale fans will just have to watch how Serena’s pregnancy plays out in season 4. But Strahovski dropped a few more clues during the “PaleyImpact: Female Empowerment in the Age of The Handmaid’s Tale” panel.

“The bomb has already been dropped that Serena is pregnant,” Strahovski said on April 13. “That is a huge moment for my character. It’s sort of this thing that she’s obviously always wanted in her whole life. We are going to watch her negotiate that in detention, and see what transpires.”

Meanwhile, creator Bruce Miller revealed multiple characters will get what they want in The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4. However, it may not be as life changing as they expected.

“I think the fascinating thing about a lot of the characters this season is they get things that they’ve been striving for a long time,” Miller said. “Serena has built her whole world of being a mother. Fred gets some stature back. People get things that they’ve always wanted. And things don’t change that much. They aren’t that different. You have to move forward.”
