‘The Incredible Dr. Pol’: Does Dr. Jan Pol Have Grandchildren?
One of Nat Geo Wild’s most popular programs, The Incredible Dr. Pol stars Michigan veterinarian, Dr. Jan Pol, following the 77-year-old animal doctor on his calls throughout his rural community.
Fans of the show note that there are two things guaranteed about Dr. Pol: one, no matter what, for him his clients – every animal – comes first. And secondly, his family means the world to him.
Here’s what we know about the successful vet’s grandchildren.
The new season of ‘The Incredible Dr. Pol’ starts soon
The new season of The Incredible Dr. Pol begins on July 11. Charles Pol, Dr. Pol’s son and the show’s executive producer, made the big announcement on YouTube in June 2020.
Charles said, “I know we’ve been gone from your lives for a little bit of time, but that’s because we’re trying to get a lot of new content for you guys. I’m excited to announce the season premiere of The Incredible Dr. Pol on July 11 at 9:00PM EST.”

Dr. Pol has three children
Dr. Pol and his wife have been married for over 50 years. They have three children, each one adopted by the couple. Kathy, 45, and Charles, 40, were adopted from birth. Their other daughter, Diane, 45, was their foster child for ten years and then was adopted by the family at age 18.
Their son, Charles, believed in his father’s ability to carry a reality show. Charles is one of the show’s producers and cast members.
“At the time, I was working in Los Angeles at Nickelodeon and trying to sell ideas for reality shows,” he explained to Nat Geo Wild in 2014. “My first idea was turned down, and I was advised to find an idea with a ‘larger than life character.’ I immediately thought of my dad. I pitched the project to a production company, we filmed a sample episode, and my idea became reality.”
Dr. Pol has two grandchildren
Dr. Pol and his wife, Diane, have two grandchildren. Their daughter Kathy has one daughter named Rachel. Kathy’s son, Adam, died in 2019 at age 23.
Charles and his wife, Beth, who married in 2018, welcomed daughter, Abigail, in 2019.
Dr. Pol tweeted a welcoming message at that time to his new granddaughter, “Welcome to the world, Abigail Pol! Congratulations Charles & Beth!”
And Charles told People in 2019, “God has blessed us with a beautiful little daughter, Abigail. We are thrilled she’s finally arrived, and we are grateful for everyone’s love and support!”
Dr. Pol likes to make clear that the family viewers see on television is real reality.
He told AARP in 2019, “What you see on the [Nat Geo Wild] show is real family life. In the beginning, a producer wanted me and my son, Charles, to get into a fight for the cameras.”
“I said, ‘I’m not going to do it; our family loves each other.’ My glass is always half full. I think that’s what people are looking for and why the show is so popular.”
