Now a former staff member of Pol Veterinary Services, Dr. Emily Thomas will always be remembered on The Incredible Dr. Pol as a hard-working and not easily flustered staff veterinarian.

Funny and straightforward, she tackled any challenges and chaotic workdays with humor and grace.

So, when she left Dr. Pol’s practice and the show last year, she left a pretty big hole. Here’s what we know about her marital status.

Her very honest relationship with her husband, Tony

Dr. Emily and her husband, Tony, have been married since 2007 and have three young children. She posts on her blog what may be considered excruciatingly honest content that many would not be willing to share with their spouses.

Just this week, the 35-year-old veterinarian shared her propensity for developing crushes on other men. However, in her revelation, she made clear this was not something she was amused about or taking lightly. It’s something she is working on for her marriage’s sake.

In her post called ‘It’s just a little crush and other marriage obstacles,’ Dr. Emily writes, “The biggest challenge to a relationship . . . is the potential loss of trust. And the biggest obstacle to that precious, extremely fragile jewel that is trust is the . . . crush! Crushes are like little demons that infiltrate your stupid brain and completely blind you to the truth and only let you see what tiny little things they want you to see.”

She explained how the crushes would develop and how it got to the point for her that she confessed all to Tony and allowed him full access to her phone to let him know she was trustworthy.

“I’m so afraid of hurting our relationship . . .,” she writes, “that I’ve always told Tony about my crushes. . .”

Happily, Dr. Emily is recovering from having crushes, writing “I’m happy to report that I have never acted on any of my crushes. . . . I have told Tony everything . . .I have now been crush free for 4 years!”

Tony worked at Pol Veterinary Services

Tony frequently guest writes for Dr. Emily’s blog, which she affectionately calls “Tony Takeovers.’ In one post called ‘A Day in My Life at Pol Vet,’ he talked about his experience working at Pol Veterinary Services.

He made clear he had no intention of talking about the doctors or really, anyone on staff, just about “a crazy busy clinic and the people who mostly stayed just to the side of the camera’s screen, but kept the clinic together.”

In a rare, behind-the-scenes glimpse into how the reality show was set up every day, Tony wrote: “I would try to arrive about ten to fifteen minutes early so I could unlock the side door and let the camera crew in.”

“Once the side door was open, five or so guys would run around the clinic turning on their big show lights and setting up any still cameras they wanted for that day.”

What was it like for Tony working at Pol Veterinary Services?

Many viewers are unaware that Tony worked at the clinic as he mainly stayed out of camera view.

“I’ve gotten a couple of questions asking me how it was working at Pol Vet Clinic, and [‘A Day in My Life at Pol Vet’] sums up [a] typical day pretty well. Working at Pol Vet was frantic, it was nerve racking at times. Sometimes, I felt like I had too many balls in the air. . . It was also claustrophobic at times, the clinic is small . . .”

“But, it was also fun. . . . I enjoyed being a part of something that helped a lot of people in the community. The guys on the film crew became some of my best friends in Michigan. I don’t miss the chaos that Pol Vet brought into my family, but I do miss the people.”
