The Banana Split on ‘The Masked Singer’ is the first duo costume of the season

“Banana Split is our duo costume for the season. Donning the outfits of a banana and a scoop of ice cream, they’re hoping to be the perfect combination to ensure a sweet victory,” Parade reported.

According to Parade, The Masked Singer judge Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg almost immediately guessed who was behind the mask for the Banana Split duo. McCarthy Wahlberg was pretty convinced it was David Foster and Katharine McPhee Foster in the Banana Split costume.

But not all the judges agreed with her. Robin Thicke, for example, believed that Faith Hill and Tim McGraw were the two behind the masks. Nicole Scherzinger, meanwhile, believed that Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling were behind the masks.

There’s a clue in the name

Some fans of The Masked Singer believe there’s a clue to the couple’s identity in the name of the costume itself. There’s a popular dessert called bananas foster, which features bananas and ice cream together. How many famous people have the last name “Foster” and are a musical couple? Not many.

Fans of the show, too, took notice of how similar the dessert sounded to the couple’s costume. Calling the costume “Bananas Foster” would have been too much of a giveaway. But calling it the “Banana Split” adds an air of mystery.

Fans believe they know who the Banana Split is on ‘The Masked Singer’

This isn’t the first time The Masked Singer has had a couple on the show. In the fifth season, Clint Black and Lisa Hartman Black portrayed the Snow Owls. But as for the Banana Split — or, if you prefer, the Bananas Foster — Gold Derby is in agreement with many fans who believe that David Foster and Katharine McPhee Foster are behind the masks.

“On episode 3, the female half of this duo, who is dressed as ice cream, sang a soaring version of ‘A Million Dreams’ from The Greatest Showman,” according to Gold Derby. “Her other half, done up as a banana, played the piano. Our first thought when we saw them was that the Banana Split is husband and wife David Foster and Katharine McPhee. Their personal and professional bios fit with the clues too.”

Of course, this is just speculation. We won’t know until they “take it off” to see who’s behind the masks. The Masked Singer airs Wednesdays on Fox.
