Gossip Girl was one of the most buzzworthy TV dramas of the past several decades, and even though it has been off the air since 2012, fans still remember it fondly.

The show was full of mystery, drama, romance, and stars – it is notorious for having launched the careers of superstars like Blake Lively, Penn Badgley, Leighton Meester, and Chace Crawford.

Recently, fans of the show were given some exciting news when it was announced that HBO Max will be debuting a brand new show, focusing on the society created in the original Gossip Girl.

While details are still scarce, a few of the reboot’s stars have been announced.

The Gossip Girl reboot is untitled, known simply as Gossip Girl 2.0 so far, and plot details have not been fully revealed. However, HBO has announced that the first season of the show will include ten hour-long episodes and that the show will be available exclusively on HBO’s streaming service, HBO Max, which is set to release in May.

The announcement also included an intriguing summary: “Eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl.”

A screenwriter for the series revealed that the show will dive deep into the changing landscape of social media and the effect that it has on society. Right now, the series has not been given a premiere date, so fans are somewhat in the dark. Original series star Kristen Bell will be returning to narrate the series, and a roster of promising young stars are in the spotlight.

Who is Emily Alyn Lind?

One of the stars of the Gossip Girl reboot is Emily Alyn Lind. The young actress will be playing a character named Audrey, and in publicity stills for the show, her character looks remarkably similar to Serena van der Woodsen, the character made famous by Blake Lively in the original Gossip Girl.

The character of Audrey could be just as problematic as the iconic Serena since the description of her character reveals that Audrey “has been in a long term relationship and is beginning to wonder what more could be out there.”

Lind is no stranger to the world of television acting. She is the daughter of actress Barbara Alyn Woods, who appeared in the hugely popular television series One Tree Hill, and has been professionally acting since 2008.

A few of her film credits include The Secret Life of Bees, Enter the Void, J. Edgar, and Movie 43. Lind has worked on some TV shows as well, including Days of Our Lives and All My Children. Still, her role in the highly-anticipated Gossip Girl reboot promises to be her biggest yet.

Will COVID-19 delay the premiere of the ‘Gossip Girl’ reboot?

Fans are excited about the brand-new series, and can’t wait to find out whether or not any other original cast members might make cameo appearances. Still, in recent days, a fear that the series might be delayed has started to emerge. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, many movies and TV shows are experiencing hiccups, with many movie releases delayed indefinitely.

Although the exact release date is still unknown, some fans have assumed that it will launch when HBO Max does in May. Still, there is a very real possibility that the reboot could get pushed back to the fall, depending on how the virus progresses in the United States over the next few weeks. Fans will just have to wait and see – and speculate about the plot in the meantime.
